Pizzeria Bocca d'Oro — Restaurant in Sartène

We were excited to have a nice pizza after 2 weeks of meat and fish. They have a really nice wood fired oven, but the dough and ingredients were just average. It is sad to see that they use a machine to stretch the dough as it only presses the dough together and makes it really hard and dense, that is not how you want pizza dough to be like. The ingredients had only little taste and I wonder how that is possible on an island where everything grows so beautifully and tastes so amazing. It also hurts to see a pizza crust look like from a frozen pizza from the supermarket, perfectly elliptical or circular and no bubbles as it was too dense. Prices for the pizzas are totally ok, the pear tarte tasted like sugar only and costs the same as pizza nearly, that's not so good.

Please have a pizza maker who uses his hands only instead of any pasta making machines to speed up the...

Great food - comically bad service. We had the grilled veggie appetizer, two pizzas, and tiramisu. All were delicious! Also a great value for the price.

Our service took a very long time, and many people who came after us had their order taken before we did. For some reason my boyfriend’s pizza came much later than mine - I was already done with my meal by the time it arrived. Loved this place. We couldn’t find our villa in the area so spent about 2 hours hanging out waiting for our host to come show us the way to the villa. had a few drinks, friendly bartender even though only one of us spoke a few words of french. Decided to go back there on our first night and order 10 take away pizzas because for sure it would be better than frozen pizza from Spar? DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Very tasty.
