I am not sure who the reviewer was that said this is a fairy tale place to stay. for us it was a bit of a nightmare experience.||First, lets be fair, the staff (when you found them) were lovely, very polite and helpful. Breakfast was rather good, better than the normal offering of continental breakfast. That's where it ends. The hotel itself is very outdated and badly in need of refurbishment which is why I feel they have themed the rooms to try and make them look more appealing. (Didn't work) I was surrounded by seagulls and sailors and the like, it was pretty hard to sleep with all that looking at you.||||On our second night there we arrived back at 8pm to find the hotel closed, the restaurant closed, and we only had access to our room via a back gate and an access code. If we needed anything we had no one to ask. No staff at all in the whole hotel. ||One of the main reasons I booked this hotel was the restaurant so we did not have to worry about looking for some where to eat after being out on our bikes all day. ||In the room there was one coffee and one tea, and no milk, so we couldn't even have a decent drink. As the local shops were all closed and nothing for miles we went to bed very hungry.||I understand you get what you pay for and this hotel was cheap, but I didn't expect to go self catering in a Logis hotel/restaurant, it was advertised as a'lacarte for goodness sake. There were no staff to ask for help (like the number of a local taxi) or anywhere to get a coffee. ||||I have never said this before but I would not recommend this...

Read moreWe stopped here on our way back to Cherbourg. We were given an access code so that we could get into the back door of the hotel, and a room number to go to, as we were told there would not be anyone there until six, we arrived arrived about 4.30pm. At first we were rather taken aback by the decor of the hotel, verydark old fashioned downstairs and our room very colourful. We nearly left there and then but didn't. We heard staff and other guests arriving around 6.00pm and we went down for dinner about 7.30pm. The staff were very friendly, and spoke a little English and we had a very nice dinner, much better than we expected, followed by a good nights sleep and a reasonable continental breakfast.I am sure we would stay there again if we were in the area. This Logis may not be to everyones taste being a little different, but sometimes different can be good and a pleasant experience...
