My partner booked one night for us in the L'Alezan as we wanted to go to Parc Asterix (perfect as only a few minutes away), and we also wanted to spend the next day in the beautiful castle (chateaux) in Chantilly. Now let me be fair here, as to why I have given this place 2 star.....||||The positives:||||The owners of this place are very very very nice people and could not be more welcoming. It is a very nice place to stay - there are 4 rooms - and it is very quiet. It is very clean, and so are the toilets and (shared) shower. The beds are comfortable and the hosts were very very kind during our stay. The food? Wow - the food is amazing! I have never eaten such wonderfully-prepared amazing food in my life - 10/10........HOWEVER.....||||The negatives:||||The restaurant/hotel is possibly the only place you will get to eat when you get here. The only way you can get to your rooms is through 2 very tight and very uncomfortable spiral wooden staircases. Beware if you are under 5 foot - you will get a nasty bump on your head. Two of the rooms are a converted attic, so if you crave light, or indeed fresh air, be prepared to feel disappointed! A mini velux attic window is all you will get.||||Breakfast - all you will get is bread and sweet marmalades and jams. Ask for tea? Be prepared to get a set of teabags with a jug of water and no milk (and as I'm English I'd have liked to have been asked - so would have my Scottish, Welsh, Irish cousins).||||And then - to rub salt into the wounds - my partner was asked to pay 102 euros when we booked for 62 - and the reason why? It was EURO 2016 championships. But to be fair they did refund the 40 euro.||||My advice?||||Avoid this place if you want to stay the night. But definitely come here if you want something to eat. The owners are nice people and it is a great place for an evening out - but not an evening...
Read moreWe stayed for just the one night whilst attending the racing at nearby Chantilly.||Great welcome from our host and chef.Rooms clean and comfortable but steep spiral staircase needs to be negotiated to reach them.||Rooms not en-suite but toilet adequately clean and shower room well appointed and with excellent shower.||We had a drink in the pretty little town of Orry at a friendly bar then dined at our hotel/restaurant.||Their are 2 menus with a choice 3 different main courses on each and priced at 23 and 32 euros. The quality is sensational, truly worth a visit! House wine is also good and reasonably priced and the atmosphere is excellent.||Breakfast is yogurts, fruit juice and pastries which were fine if not as exciting as the dinner.||We will certainly pay another visit if we return...
