Café Léoube — Restaurant in Toulon

A beautiful spot, we had booked in the restaurant a few weeks before and was surprised to have to pay €11 to park even though we had a booking ? The setting is beautiful lovely small beach a small walk away with white table (dirty) set under trees. The catering and W/C are all static buildings scattered around the seating. WC’s lovely and clean. The main issue with the place is it’s neither a cheap beach bar / lunch or restaurant. It’s stuck in the middle but with the cost of a good restaurant and the service of a cheap beach bar. We had to ask the staff for everything Wine, Water, extra Water, desserts the bill all not good enough and not what we expected having been to other Bamford establishments. I enjoyed my veal cutlet, my partner regretted her choice (risotto) (but that’s not unusual!). My eldest regretted pizza choice as base is not a typical pizza dough. He ate the rest of youngest’s nuggets. Wine was lush and worth getting chateau rose. Our table was booked for 13h15. I received two calls before 13h00 to ask where we were when we were already sat at the table. Only listened to voicemail now, on returning home, from 12h43 on the day asking where we were and would we be attending when we were already having drinks at the table? Seems odd. My recommendation is to arrive early in the day to make the most of the beach and get a nice spot and maybe eat in the ‘lounge’. Much less formal. Lovely venue, excellent food expensive tho But we object to paying 12 euros to park! The cost should at least have been deducted from the cost of the meal or the wine we bought. Also I flagged up a strawberry allergy on the booking form and the affected guest ordered the rum baba which had no mention of strawberry content on the menu. The baba was actually served with strawberries. We asked for it to be taken away and for the strawberries to be replaced with a different fruit.
