Restaurant La Grange du Beausset — Restaurant in Toulon

Great foodie experience I have had here tonight! Restaurant with a very warm attire, rustic in the appearance, but overall classy - really makes you feel welcome! Top service, fast but gentle, can't fault it. I had the 42€ menu (drinks aside - had a glass of Bandol rouge 2011, nice; and a bottle of S.Benedetto, slightly fizzy water). I chose foie gras (feeling slightly sorry thinking to my vegetarian friends!...), first time in my life, mi-cuit: I was blown away by the delicacy of the taste. Then I went for the fillet of beouf, perfectly medium rare, served with a really tasty ratatouille, peppercorn sauce and pommes frites - man, if you like meat, this was worth on its own the price of the whole menu! (And in UK you would have paid, that price!....). Then there was a small plate with three tiny pieces of local cheese - again, perfect, as after the (fairly large!) fillet, I was scared of being presented with 300gr of cheese. So, after taking my time to taste the 3 cheeses, which reminded me of the mountains' ones in Italy, I'm shown the magic black board: desserts! There's plenty of sorbets, profiteroles, carpaccio d'ananas, tiramisu... all freshly made, I'm told. The "café gourmand" is my choice: a selection of "small" portion of 4 different desserts + an espresso (decaf for me tonight...). Each one if them is an amazing journey into flavourland, other than real treats for the eye... Well, at this point, I'm truly stuffed. Thanks...

Superbe cadre et très impatient de goûter la cuisine et quand même un peu déçu par plusieurs petites choses. Menu Saint-Valentin qui passe du sublime au moyen , assez mitigé . hormis la cheminée qui nous réchauffait un petit peu , un personnel assez froid qui nous sert les apéritifs sans rien nous dire avec trois quatre petits fours froids qui se battent en duel dans l'assiette et quand j'ai demandé encore quelque chose a grignoter elle m'a annoncé prendre ma commande .A part une jeune femme qui m'as servi le vin qui était rigolote et gentille qui nous a parlé un peu et qui s'est étonné que l'on ait pas proposé à ma compagne autre chose en apéritif , car elle ne buvait pas d'alcool , à part cela pas grand chose .Le service n'est pas mauvais non plus attention. mais pas très présent non plus .Dommage .

Les points forts Très bon foie gras et belle cuisson pour le boeuf aux morilles avec un vin de Bandol très satisfaisant. Je me suis régalé .Mais dommage qu'il n'y a pas plus de vins à la carte surtout quand on est sur un terroir tel que celui de Bandol.

En conclusion assez partagé je pense ne pas avoir eu tout le potentiel de ce restaurant dans ce menu à 60 euros . Car la cuisine est importante mais le service aussi .j'aurais préféré payer un supplément et avoir un autre apéritif meilleur par exemple. J'ai pas eu trop le choix avec un service assez mécanique et expéditif . Peut-être le faite qu'il y ait un peu plus de monde je ne sais pas. Bref je n'ai pas passé non plus un mauvais moment mais je m'attendais à mieux . Ce sont des petits détails qui font revenir ou pas les clients. J'espère ne pas avoir été trop dur mais c'est mon ressenti je suis désolé je tenais à vous le...

The food was excellent went out with my family and we all had something different, the table was quite nice everyone enjoyed themselves , it was busy but we had a table straight away, and everyone finished there meals. Nothing was left on our plate ,the service was spot on and the atmosphere is excellent . It is family orientated and intimate as well.
