La Doulce Terrasse — Restaurant in Tours

If you visit the castle of Villandry, it's well worth eating at the restaurant that's at the entrance of the castle. While the menu is extensive it is not fully available when you're there. However the few dishes that they offer at the time are excellent! We like to experiment new dishes when we can, so we had the Guinea Fowl thigh and leg; needles to say that the meat was tender and fell off the bone, the sauce was aromatic and mild and it was all cooked to perfection. If I had to guess I think the sauce had a hint of fennel. My partner had the beef carpaccio and he said it was the best he's ever eaten. I'm not a carpaccio lover but after the fuss he made, I had to taste it and have to say it was excellent! We were both amazed that the beef was sliced thicker than what you usually get at...

Fantastic service (excellent English-speaking staff) and delicious fresh food with innovative touches right next to the Châteaux entrance. Try the mini-desserts with coffee or the raspberry-bergamot ice-cream. The salmon and spinach quiche was fantastic and came with a delicious green salad with herbs and small flowers within it and a lovely dressing. The fresh citrous and mint drink was also wondering excellent. There were simpler dishes for our children and high chairs for babies....

What an amazing place for food and drinks and a moment in a gorgeous shaded area just outside the Villandry Chateau! We were a bit afraid this place might be very typically touristy with mediocre food and bad service - but we were amazed how friendly and accommodating everyone was (we were a party of 5 with 2 dogs!) and how quick the drinks and food were served and how delicious the food was.
