Le Commerce — Restaurant in Vannes

Been.coming here every summer for the last 5 years. It seems to have changed owners since last summer. It's a lovely place to sit in the day and have a grand cafe outside

The exterior of the restaurant looks brilliant . We were shown to a table for two next to other English people , we being English preferred to sit away from English people on holiday so just moved ourselves, this wasn't taken well and we were asked to move.

For the starter we had rillettes du saumon. Taste was alright , not too bad but presentation wasnt great. It was 4 triangles of factory bread with dry salmon and a couple of slices of lemon. So easy to improve on this but to the customer it looks like no effort has been made.

For main I had a steak with fries. I asked for this to be rare. It came well done , I ate it anyway but it was tough to chew . The fries and salad were good and enjoyed them.

We had a chocolate mousse for dessert which I shared with my wife. This was ok, nothing amazing.

The service was barely acceptible , a smile wouldn't go a miss and actually talking when bringing stuff over rather than just placing the food and running off without a word .Got the impression that the staff just didn't want to be there.

It's a shame it's gone down hill since...

We enjoyed a superb meal here tonight to end our holiday in Penestin. Lovely restaurant with extremely helpful, friendly waitress - she tranlated the menu into English and encouraged our two young children to have a go with French words. The meals were excellent. Plenty of ham on the children's menu and my steak was cooked perfectly! Desserts were amazing as well!! Would definitely recommend a visit here - you won't be...

Bonjour a tous Restaurant très surprenant,vue la petite façade mais un intérieur spacieux & convivial. Sur le choix des plats tres bien nous avons pris apéro lol , deux menus enfants avec deux moule marinière que je recommande, habitants dans le Finistère Nord mais originaire du Nord,je peux vous confirmer que vous ne serez pas dessus. Le seul mécontente se fut après deux heures à table les enfants se sont impatientaient donc ils n'ont pas eu leur crêpe au chocolat et pour moi la mousse au chocolat maison et la lors de l'addition on me relie la fiche je stipule que nous avons pas eu nos desserts . Donc on me stipule que les desserts fond parti des menus donc ils ne peuvent pas être retirés de la note !!ok pas de soucis sauf que la mousse au chocolat ne fait pas partie d'un menu donc une charmante dame ma bien fait comprendre qu'il n'y aura pas de remboursement (ma réponse : pas de souci je ne suis pas a 5€50 ,mais attention de tout bien mangé avant de partir même si vous devez rester 2,3 ou 4...
