The Abris des Pèlerins existed first for workers at the Verdun gravesites. It quickly transformed into a place for mourning families to dine while visiting the Verdun grave sites. For a number of years, the association départementale des amis et parents d'enfants inadaptés meuse operates the location. This association supports intellectually and physically disabled members of the community employed in the restaurant. The cuisine is a fresh daily menu and top notch as are the wine and local beer options. Our waitress was attentive and informative as was the gentleman waiter who served as support. The staff's replies were rude and contemptuous. They then seated two (male youth) who walked in after me before I had left the establishment. It invoked feelings that were inconsistent with the places of honor so close by, so I left. I saw nothing, especially appetizing on the menu or being served.
