You must make it an absolute priority to visit this establishment, if you are reading this and deliberating, my advice is to cancel your other reservations and any other trifling day plans you may have and get yourself here ASAP. In summary: a very special, attentive and unforgettable experience. Definitely the highlight of my time visiting this region and will be a place I make sure to return to when back in the area. It's heartfelt and generous, both in the food and the care and attention of the host/chef.
You are seated and served four courses (starter, main, fromage, dessert). The starters and mains arrive in big bowls which you pass around and serve yourself from. Important to note, and what the host will tell you, is to first pass the bowls around and serve on your plate a very small portion of each dish to taste, before loading up your plates (to avoid food wastage). Another tip is that between the starters and mains you need to 'wipe' your plate clean, either with the copious amounts of bread or the serviettes provided. The first round is a number of vegetarian dishes and salads, all just as they should be and beautifully balanced. Note, don't stuff yourself full, as there is a lot more coming you will definitely want to have room for. The second course is a series of three meat dishes and two vegetable dishes. All were phenomenal, my personal favourite were the courgettes and pork bourguignon, but the organ dish was also very special. After that comes a cheese that bought tears to my eyes it was so good. And then a dessert - served on the underside of your dinner plate - today we had prunes poached in spiced wine and tapioca pudding with clementine marmalade - an incredible combination of flavours and textures. Alongside the great wine, coffee and drinks this was a 'perfect' meal, a rare experience!
Note: the price is very affordable, all of this came to...

The meal is served on a communal table that seats around 10 people. Prepared dishes are brought to the table and passed from guest to guest. Everything was delicious. This is local homecooked comfort food. There is no menu. The chef prepares a variety of dishes. Guests are encouraged to try everything and get seconds or thirds of dishes they enjoy. There were limited vegetarian friendly dishes, but enough to put a good meal together. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It felt like eating in somebody's home. Keep room for the delicious dessert. Reservations recommended. Ample...
Read moreWe had a great experience in Le Bouchon. We stayed nearby and wanted to try the restaurant based in Google reviews. We had to book a day before for a family of 5. Food was delicious, very generous portions. It was a mixture of Lyonese and Beaujolais cuisines. The concept and food might be not to everyone's taste but we enjoyed it. We didn't speak much French but the host was very welcoming and tried v hard to explain everything to us....
