The place looks nice - it's the basement of a simple house. Staff were very pleasant and spoke great english. But the food is just not good. We liked the sausages, but everything else they brought was worse than anything you would get in any Kartvelian (Georgian) restaurant in Europe. They also forgot the chacha, which we didn't complain about. But after bringing the main dishes no one showed up to our table for 40 minutes. They didn't say that the dinner is finished (theres no menu so we were not sure how many dishes there will be nor would there be a dessert) nor did they bring us a bill. After going to the kitchen and asking for the bill we made a friendly remark that they could have informed us when the last dish came and the dinner was over, the waiter got really mad and started arguing that no one said there would be a dessert (we didnt even ask for it, just said we werent sure if we are waiting for desert or if theres some other reason we still didnt get a bill in 40minutes), and told us we should have used some call button on the table to bring their attention, but they didnt mention the button or what it does before, during the whole dinner.
TLDR: Food is average or below average. I mean it Staff seems friendly, but get really aggresive after hearing some constructive criticism, and it makes the whole service seem so fake...
Read moreI don't understand how this address can have so many good comments, while it is absolutely not what we can expect from a good Georgian restaurant. I have been traveling many times in Georgia and this is the worst experience I've had so far : the staff is very welcoming but you can feel that this is a complete tourists trap. First you are invited to hear about the family history and see the wine cellar, which is nice of course, but you feel like they are reciting their pitch all over again, which makes you feel quite uncomfortable. The wine we are served is definitely not the one we see in the cellar, but tastes more like some conventional and untasteful wine from anywhere but Georgia. Chacha smelled like antiseptic lotion. The food was ok, but there is a big difference between "homemade" and "putting together poor ingredients at home". Mushrooms were full of water and soaked in oil, jonjoli pickles had a musty taste, tomatoes and cucumbers were tasteless… It was so disappointing that it seemed pointless to even try desert… Again, I have to recognize that everyone there is very nice and welcoming, but I think people should know what to...
Read moreThis place is amazing! Price is 40 Lari, that includes everything you need: food, wine, chachas, good mood, the discovery of the wine cellar and nice discussions. You get a lot of food, whenever I had the feeling that I am progressing well, Toma just put a new dish on my table. The meal was homemade by his family and consisted of a lot of Georgian specialities. I just couldn't finish them and asked Toma to pack the rest, in the end I had meal for 2 days. After meal we just went out to the garden, the people at the table smoked a cigarette, I finished my wine, and had good discussions about Georgian life with or host. In summary everything was perfect. This is just different from a regular restaurant, more friendly, more knowledgeable. I just feel guilty about writing such a good review because if a lot of people go to the place I am worried it will...
