As part of our Kakheti wine tour, our tour package partners brought us to a charming rustic restaurant for lunch, followed by wine tasting. The venue offered cozy indoor seating and a scenic outdoor space that added to the authentic countryside vibe.
Since it was just the two of us, the food was laid out directly at our table. We were served a generous spread that included:
Chicken in garlic cream sauce
Chicken in tomato sauce
Potato wedges
Salad and beans
Traditional Georgian breads, including khachapuri
A portion of rice
Every dish was bursting with flavor. The chicken in both sauces was tender, succulent, and well-seasoned. I particularly enjoyed pairing the khachapuri and rice with the garlic sauceâabsolutely delicious. Overall, the meal was a hearty and satisfying highlight of the tour.
Wine & Chacha Tasting đ
After lunch, we were invited to a wine room where the tasting began with a shot of chacha served alongside some light condiments. The chacha was surprisingly smooth and easy to drink.
We were then served four red and four white wines. While the tasting session itself was enjoyable, we felt it lacked depthâthere was minimal explanation about the history of Georgian wine, the winemaking process, regional characteristics, or local grape varieties. A little more storytelling would have enhanced the experience.
However, a sweet gesture made it memorable: with my better halfâs birthday coming up, the host served us a large celebratory glass of wineâa special touch that made the moment unforgettable.
Overall: A Great Experience đ
Despite the quick wine class, the warm hospitality, rustic setting, flavorful food, and generous pours made it a truly enjoyable afternoon in Kakheti. Definitely recommended for a relaxed and tasty introduction to Georgian...
