We booked 3 nights at Grenzbach Muehle, but checked out after one night. The hotel does not take credit cards (besides EC Carte, which most Americans don't have). The hotel will not let you charge your dinner/lunch to your room; you must pay for your meal immediately. Smoking is allowed in the premises and smoke drifted into our room. The interior was finished out with cheap products - plastic laminate floors, drab runners in the hall and room floors, etc. The pictures on the wall of Apartment Room 24-25 were glittery paintings of Egyptian pyramids. But most unpleasant of all was the attitude of the staff. When we asked to eat breakfast in the outside area adjacent to the breakfast room, we were rudely told we would have to move our own coffee cups/plates/flatware outside. The response to other questions we asked was similar. The nicest thing about this property were the 2 cats that live there. There are numerous hotels in towns just a few KM from here for the same price and nicer atmosphere/property - Westerwald Treff, for example, or Hotel Fuchs. I suggest staying in one of the...
Read moreMy wife and I really wouldn't stay anywhere else in this area.The rooms are clean, very comfortable, quite spacious and the breakfast will definitely put you on until lunch.Lovely warm rolls and an assortment of meats and cheeses,fresh fruit,orange juice,yogurt,and lots of tea or and coffee.The owners are lovely people and most helpful.The hotel is in a quite delightful setting...OK there's only sky News to watch on the TV but so what.||If you are around there mid afternoon do try the coffee and cake....The cakes are home made and taste amazing.||All those positives and only 1 negative. ..A Tea making facility in the rooms would be a definite plus..||However I'm not marking them down for that..||We will definitely be staying...
