We pre-booked and arrived at approximately 1730 on a Saturday. The first thing I noticed was a sign on the covered terrace saying 'closed from 1700 for a birthday party'. The terrace was a main reason for choosing this hotel, as I had hoped my husband and I would be able to enjoy dinner there on either Saturday or Sunday or both evenings. The trip was for his 50th birthday present combined with the Grand Prix in Belgium; 45 mins away.||I went inside but wasn't sure if I'd used the correct door as it went straight into the bar and the inside seating for the restaurant. So I summoned up some German from the recesses of my brain and asked (probably badly) if I could check in. The young staff stared at me blankly, so I tried again using words like "Ich Bin Frau Collins und Ich habe ein zimmer". I mean I know it's poor but I was trying and surely just the words Frau Collins and zimmer could have been a big clue!||Finally one of the staff clicked and found a room key, but then immediately said if we wanted to eat we would have to do so later (we hadn't even mentioned food!) as they were busy. Okay we said, somewhat taken aback, we wanted to shower first anyway and have a cold beer...||We returned at about 7.30pm and asked for a table. The terrace had one table slightly separated from the party which was not in use, so we asked if that would be okay. Yes said the waitress. But 'someone else' said no, so she told us we had to move! We went inside but she said there was no room in the restaurant - we were offered a high seating area at the bar. No - I said. She found space in the restaurant (there were several cleared tables!!!).||I asked to see the manager, but the waitress returned saying we could see them tomorrow, but they were too busy cooking for the party to come out now.||I was furious - but trapped as the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Believe me, I'd have left if I could have. ||Eventually a message was relayed from the boss (?) saying we could have a free drink. Big deal! ||We ate but my appetite was lost and I'd rather have had a Maccy D's at that point. The meal was average.||It's a real shame as the hotel is clean and breakfast was good. It's family run - but no family style hospitality was afforded to us. We were treated as if our booking was an inconvenience and that we were unreasonable wanting to eat our dinner at 1930 on the terrace!||Really, they should have either declined the hotel booking request or at least warned us as we would not have booked the room.||I cancelled the second night.||We are going to Maastricht instead!!! To a hotel close to lots of restaurants so hopefully we will get a good meal in a friendlier place tonight. (If we ever get there - currently stuck in traffic leaving Grand Prix circuit at Spa - but what a great...

Read moreLovely hotel in a quiet street with views into the woods. Great for small groups and family gatherings as there are multiple places to sit, eat, drink and relax. Guests have the option of a roof terrace or private social room with games, hot and cold drinks, and snacks. This is in addition to the main inside restaurant and covered terrace in front of the hotel. The mostly young staff were very friendly, helpful and keen to please. The food was great with a good selection of tasty freshly prepared dishes. We needed to get some repairs on our bikes before continuing our travels and again the staff were extremely helpful finding ways to sort out our problems. I would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to a...
