Gasthaus Zur Traube — Restaurant in Babenhausen

Things didn't get off to a good start. We arrived at 4pm and the owner reluctantly opened the door whilst talking on her phone, and told us we could not come in until 5pm as the room was not ready! We have been travelling Europe for three weeks and have never been refused admission as late as 4pm! So we had to go away and return later.||||The hotel is right on a quite busy road, so to cut down noise, we closed the Windows. There is no air conditioning, so at this time of year we were baking. Not even a fan to cool us a little.||||There was no hairdryer, no tissues, no iron or ironing board (but then I haven't seen an iron in Europe hotels yet!)||||Breakfast was very nice, no problem with that.||||Now we come to the WiFi. We couldn't connect, and were told by the proprietor that there was "a defect" in the whole area. We went without WiFi for the first time in three weeks, BUT then miraculously she managed to use her credit card machine to charge us! And her own lap top appeared to be working. I would not rely upon there ever being guest WiFi at this hotel, despite the fact that they advertise...

We (family of four) stayed at this cosy hotel on our way south. We felt extremely welcome and the owners really know how to make you feel at home. The location is really good, not to far from the main road in a nice and quiet village on the countryside. Here you get a stay in a genuine German gasthaus. Everything was very clean and tidy. We arrived for check-in late and a nice and traditional dinner was prepared for us in the bar/restaurant downstairs. We took an evening walk in the beautiful surroundings. For us this is definitely a place to come back to...
