Burgrestaurant Altenbaumburg — Restaurant in Bad Kreuznach

After a long hike we arrived on a Monday afternoon at the Altenbaumburg looking forward to a cold drink and nice meal. We were sort of greeted by a very unfriendly waitress informing us that we couldn’t get a table unless we had a reservation. Pointing out that more than half the tables were empty and it was the middle of the afternoon and we were happy with just a drink and leaving before dinner reservations we were confronted with an outburst of emotions by the waitress how she was all by herself and repeating the place was booked out and we should’ve made a reservation. Very puzzled and surprised - never had such a bad service experience in Germany ever- we left and hiked back… The venue and scenery looked absolutely stunning, yet the service and attitude makes me want to spend my money elsewhere. Das Burgrestaurant - I recommand a reservation as you will even in winterly spring not get a place for a fresh out of the kitchen lunch or dinner. There's just the boss working there but inbetween all these stressfull times he's a quite nice person and serving the meal to his guests himself.Very good regional dishes are served and if the wether is good you'll take a place outside on the terrace - There's always a fresh wind.

Die Burg an sich ist super und lädt zum selbst Erkunden ein. Viele kleine Ecken, die Brücke ist toll und eine schöne Aussicht. Der Chef ist in seiner Art ein wenig speziell, wirkt ein wenig ruppig und grantelig. ("Pfälzer Art" meinte eine Tischnachbarin) Aber ich glaube, das ist er garnicht, denn - was man so mitbekommen hat - es ist wohl nur so, das wenig Personal da ist, und wenn dann noch 2 Gäste "unerwartet", ohne Reservierung, kommen, wird ihnen gesagt, dass es nur was zu trinken, aber kein Essen gibt, weil so viele Leute da sind. Auf Nachfrage in der Küche bekam das Paar neben mir dann doch noch eine Karte und konnte was essen. Thema Hunde: es ist okay, wenn sie an die Leine sollen. Das Schild dass sie draussen bleiben müssen, übersah ich leider, als ich auf Toilette wollte. Sorry dafür, war eilig... Aber kein Problem, die können auch kurz draussen warten... Irgendwie schade ist, das man das Gefühl hat, mit Hund nicht erwünscht zu sein, und auch im Biergarten etwas "weiter hinten" plaziert wird. Ich möchte gerne vermitteln, und betonen, daß nicht alle Hunde schlecht erzogen sind und direkt vom Tisch die Pommes essen (das wäre wohl mal vorgekommen und es gab wohl Ärger deswegen). Meine kämen von der Größe her ja nichtmal dran (3kg Hunde) Zumal, selbst wenn, die Tische auch nach dem Besuch einfach gut abgewischt werden könnten, und alles ist gut. Also bitte nicht übertreiben, nicht alle sind so.... Alles in allem aber gut, Salat wirklich sehr frisch und Jägerschnitzel...
