We came to this hotel for an overnight stop on the way eastwards. It is very well-located in the hills near Bad Salzungen, next to the historic Frankenstein castle. From the terrace and rooms one has a nice view on the fields and lake. The immediate environment offers a variety of walking trails through forests and fields. Historic towns like Eisenach and Meiningen are nearby. We found the service less personal and friendly than usual in the Germany countryside. The staff did its work, but with little spirit of hospitality. The breakfast was modest but tasty; otherwise the food was all right. Small but comfortable, perfectly clean rooms, all-you-need bathroom and good food (chanterelles!!) and drinks. Very friendly staff! |Fantastic view and awesome running trails!||You definitely wanna take a car or taxi to get here. ||Only downside: I was there during very hot weather (more than 90F), air condition would have been great as the room was very hot during the night as well.
