Wanderhütte Sattelei - Hotel Bareiss GmbH — Restaurant in Baiersbronn

The food was great, the view was stunning and the walk up to the hut was invigorating! We had the beef broth that had spatzle in it, butter bakes meatballs and the black forest ice cream. The food was truly the highlight of this cozy hut. The only negative point we would live to raise would be the service. In particular one specific server who seemed quite high handed. Maybe it had to do with the fact that we aren't German speakers nor do we look 'german'. But given the fact that the customer profile here seems fairly monochromatic, I'm willing to chalk it up as an exception and not the rule. Maybe hiring more English speaking...

This "walking hut" in the hills surrounding the town of Baiersbronn is owned and run by the Bareiss family who also own and run the eponymous hotel. Given that the hotel is one on of the finest in Germany one would expect nothing less than great food and service, but one would also expect to pay a "premium" for the pleasure. The food and service is indeed of the highest standard but the prices are extremely reasonable - this is not a tourist trap, just a very pleasant place to take a break whilst walking / cycling...

Für "verwöhnte" Gäste des Hotels Bareiss leicht gewöhnungsbedürftig: man steht -zumindest bei Hochbetrieb - vor der Theke, wartet auf die Platzierung und wird einfach nicht wahrgenommen. Man muss ausdrücklich nachfragen. Ein Hinweis am Eingang zur Gaststube, dass "freie Platzwahl" angesagt ist, wäre für beide Teile sehr hilfreich!! Der "deftige Rindfleischeintopf" enthielt m.E. vergleichsweise wenig Gemüseeinlage und ich habe leider auch kein Rindfleisch feststellen können. Vielleicht war es in dermaßen winzige Stücke geschnitten dass ich es mit meiner Grobmotorik und -Sensorik nicht bemerkt habe. Gerade auf einer Wanderhütte (sehr rustikal mit absolut stimmigen Ambiente und Atmosphäre!!) hätte ich einen wirklich kräftig mit diversen Einlagen versehenen (über die in der Speisekarte aufgeführten Kartoffeln u. Möhren hinaus -ich hatte das nicht als abschließende Aufzählung wahrgenommen- bspw. auch Sellerie, Lauch ff.) in etwas stückigerer Konsistenz erwartet. Schade, ich war aufrichtig enttäuscht. Ansonsten ist die Lokalität unbedingt eine Wanderung und Einkehr wert, wenn man Gemütlichkeit und heimelige -ans Skifahren erinnernde- Stimmung mag und nicht auf Einzeltischen besteht.
