Fabbrica — Restaurant in Berlin

This was our first night in Berlin, and we decided to go here for dinner. It was a little difficult to find at first since it was secluded, but it was well worth the effort. The atmosphere was peaceful and inviting. It appeared that the owner was the only person doing all the work (taking orders, cooking, delivering food, processing payments), but he did an excellent job and made it all look easy. He spoke very little English and we spoke very little German, but he still treated us graciously and we were able to communicate. I had a Pilsner, Bruschetta, Spaghetti Bolognese, Hot Cocoa, and Tiramisu. One of my friends had the lasagna and the other had the gnocchi, and both said their meals were excellent. Everything that I had was wonderfully satisfying, but my favorites had to be the Pilsner and...

Extremely rude and unfriendly guy (owner or cook, no idea).

They don't accept card payments so before ordering I have tried to ask where the next ATM is. He was terribly annoyed by this simple question, pretended not to understand it (he was actually also not listening to me). Kept rolling his eyes and making strange faces as well on top.

This is the first time ever I give a place one star.

The food looked good by the way, so if you want to get treated like garbage and pay for it you might be willing to try...

Das schlechteste Essen seit langer Zeit. Wir waren zum Testessen für unsere Weihnachtsfeier dort. Ein Glück haben wir getestet. Die Vorspeisen waren bereits unterirdisch: die Spargelsuppe enthielt eine verbrannte Zutat und war nicht genießbar. Eigentlich dachten wir bei Bruschetta kann man nicht viel falsch machen… Hier bekommt man eine schlechte Tomaten-Zwiebel-Mischung auf labbrigen Brot mit dem billigsten Olivenöl.

Der erste Eindruck setzte sich beim Hauptgang fort: die Pizza war ebenfalls komplett labbrig - knusprig scheint ein Fremdwort zu sein. Darauf „Parmaschinken“ Von billigster Qualität. Der gratinierte Spargel schmeckte ebenfalls verbrannt. Unser Highlight: für unseren Sohn hatten wir Nudeln mit Butter bestellt. Diese bekamen wir auch- allerdings war die Butter nicht mal geschmolzen, sondern lag kalt auf den Nudeln. Einfach traurig und lieblos. Wir haben dann abgebrochen und sind woanders essen gegangen. Dort wurde übrigens ohne Nachfrage eine Buttersoße gemacht. Wir sind froh, dass wir unsere Mitarbeiter vor einem schlechten Essen zur Weihnachtsfeier bewahrt haben.

Am Ende bleibt zu sagen, die Bedienung war angenehm. Die Location bietet eigentlich viel Potential - mit diesem Essen für uns jedoch nie...
