The food here is fine (not great) but I've never experienced worse customer service in my life. My nine companions and I stayed at the Best Western Premier at this location. After a long day of traveling, we checked into the hotel and then decided to just eat here at the hotel since there weren’t many other eating options nearby. When we walked into the restaurant, there were two other groups. Each group had approximately eight people and both groups had their tables scooted together. Other than this, the restaurant was empty.
Immediately after walking in, the waiter became upset because we had the nerve to eat at his establishment without giving him at least one hour’s notice. Apparently, reservations are now required for mid-level hotel restaurants. I mean, I get it though . . . people were practically banging down the doors to get in. He also got angry when we scooted a couple of tables together. Apparently, our lack of permission-asking threatened his ego. Later, when he was taking our orders, he chastised a member of the group for having a plastic water bottle on the table. Although he was very rude about it, I can see his point - it was very rude for a paying customer to have threatened the restaurant’s Michelin Star status in such a way. Lastly, several people from the other groups went outside to smoke and a lot of the cigarette smoke filtered into the restaurant near the place we were sitting. We closed the door and then immediately the waiter came over and shook his finger at us (yes, I kid you not) and told us we couldn’t do that. Another blow to his ego.
In the end, we should have just walked out but it was late, and as I previously mentioned we didn’t have many eating options. I just feel bad that our German waiter was born two generations too late and missed his true...
