Located smack in the middle of the historic walled city of Blomberg, this hotel provided excellent value, along with large and airy rooms fronting the street with a lovely view of half-timbered buildings dating back to the 16th century. Free parking in a lot adjacent to the hotel was a plus, too. Mrs. Lilo Sitzmann, the proprietor, greeted us on arrival and solved a last minute scheduling problem by allowing us an extra night's stay. Our room was full of travel information for the city and the surrounding area. The hotel also accommodated us for a large family reunion dinner, despite not knowing for sure if we would have as few as 20 or more than 30 participants. Food was delicious, especially the white asparagus. Service was friendly and unobtrusive throughout our 4 night stay. Despite being on the main street just a few feet from the remaining city gate that could only accommodate one way traffic at a time, our sleep was peaceful and not disturbed by traffic. Read moreMy husband and I stayed here in May. Our plan was to visit the Long House Open Air Museum in Detmold the next day so decided to stay about 20 minutes away for a chance to visit another city. Blomberg is a wonderful old village with a wonderful tower entrance to the old part. And right after the entrance you find this delightful hotel. It is small but charming with fine, clean rooms. We had a double room and it was larger than usual in Europe. Staff spoke some English and were so helpful and gracious. Breakfast was also better than most as it included hot items.
