House by the lake — Restaurant in Chiemsee

We decided to have dinner here after spending the day at the lake. The presentation of the dishes was really well done and it raised my expectations of the food, only to find out that the food was not that great tasting. We ordered the pumpkin soup, chili con carne, pad Thai, blut und leberwuste, gnocchi gorgonzola. The pumpkin soup had a strong herbs flavor. I asked the waitress if I could exchange it and I think this was the first time she was asked this because she had to check with the cook. She came back and said our food taste was different and that I could order something else but it would not be on the house. I understand that pumpkin soup may be different (in Germany) than I'm used to, but I did not order a herbs flavor soup. Sadly the other dishes were either too salty or too bland. The location is 5-star. Small room with maybe 10-12+ small tables. All tables continually full, but moved quickly through for those waiting because the food and drinks offered are relatively simple (but good!). Being popular, we had to wait a bit before we were waited on, not all items were listed and not all listed were available. All in all totally fine though! Friendly staff, even with the high turnover. I'd go back in a flash for a comfy cup of afternoon coffee spoiling! You sit directly over the water! With Chiemsee so large, you feel like you're at the coast, with mtn views...

Was anfänglich nach einem schönen Tagesausklang am Chiemseeufer aussah, entpuppte sich als ein Familienalbtraum wie wir ihn noch nie erlebt haben: Das Essen war zweifelsohne lecker und auch für unsere drei Kinder war etwas Gutes dabei. Doch dann der äußerst bittere Nachgeschmack: Nach dem Essen bestand man doch tatsächlich darauf, dass wir die Nudeln, die unserer 1-jährigen Tochter heruntergefallen waren, selbst zu beseitigen hätten. Wir gaben dem Personal zu verstehen, dass es in einem Restaurant - dazu dieser Preisklasse - äußerst unüblich ist, seine Gäste zu Aufräumarbeiten zu verdonnern. Daraufhin rückte die Chefin höchstpersönlich an und beleidigte meine Frau in ihren Fähigkeiten als Mutter, verbunden mit dem Hinweis, ihren eigenen Kindern sei ja nie etwas heruntergefallen. Auch am Nachbartisch rollte man angesichts dieser Frechheiten mittlerweile mit den Augen, was uns darin bestätigt, nichts Unverschämtes verlangt zu haben. Das Restaurant war zu diesem Zeitpunkt höchstens zur Hälfte belegt. Kurzum, wir können uns diesen Gipfel an Kinder- und Mutterfeindlichkeit bis heute nicht erklären und können nur allen, die Kinder haben und lieben, wie sie sind, wärmstens empfehlen, einen großen Bogen um dieses...
