Annas Taverne — Restaurant in Dachau

It was a Friday night just after 8PM the day before Octoberfest and the place was packed. I did not have a reservation, but the server considered it a personal challenge to get me (a single diner) in and out before a reserved table was needed at 9 PM.

I also don’t see the need for all the 5-star ratings by others… but… I find Anna’s to be a fun (very small) place with a great single (non-English speaking) server for the (~12) inside tables. She, the server, did not hesitate to bring one… no two, of the regular duel language customers into the conversation to help me with my order and subsequent needs. My food was nothing out of the ordinary but met my expectations and my change of wines was handled well when I asked to look at the bottles.

Keep in mind this is a small place and dishes may run out earlier in the evening from when you may get there, so don’t be disappointed if you dine late and what is on the daily board is no longer available. This happened to me.

Parking can be a problem, as this restaurant stands alone in a residential area and is sandwiched between what appears to be apartments and single-family housing. Please carpool and come as a group and expect...

Very much so a one man show and family business. In an unsecured place with no parking, we were worried our car would get broken into. The seating situation was very uncomfortable, the chairs were old and raggedy and had my back hurting. View was of a construction site to the right of the restaurant.

Greek platter was diverse in options for vegetarians and carnivores. The octopus on mashed potatoes was so greasy, couldn’t keep eating it. Which is weird since it was supposed to be grilled, the sauce on top tasted sour. Wouldn’t recommend it but the mashed potatoes were good.

Gave us free shots and orange cake, the cake itself was too sweet especially with the ice cream.

Had the house white wine which was delicious and a deal.

Service was slow but it was only one server and then one cook. Took 40 minutes for our food to come...

Schon oft war ich griechisch essen, es ist nicht unbedingt leicht griechisch so zu kochen, dass es saftig wird, aber dieses Restaurant macht ihrem Land alle Ehre.

Ich war zum zweiten Mal in der Taverne und nahm entgegen meiner ersten Wahl doch das Bifteki, weil es die letzte verfügbare Portion war... Ich wurde vom Bifteki bisher in vielen Restaurants enttäuscht, es ist eigentlich ein Gericht, dass ich nicht beim Griechen bestelle, da es mir zu trocken ist.

Die Bifteki sind dort per Hand gemacht, daher gibt es sie nicht immer, nur wenn sie frisch sind. Einzig und allein lässt sich sagen, dass es fast schon schade ist, dass zu dem Bifteki Pommes gereicht wurden, ich hab das leider auf der Tafel nicht gesehen. Das Bifteki war geschmacklich genau wie die Souvlaki eine absolute Freude, auch wenn ich es bisher nicht mochte und eher aus trotz bestellt habe, um des besseren belehrt zu werden, war es ein voller Genuss, gefüllt mit Käse, Tomaten und jalapeños... Ein Traum von Fleisch, saftig und schön gegrillt, eine ordentliche Portion. Die Pommes würde ich fast schon von den normalen Gerichten verbannen, denn jedes einzelne Gericht an sich ist super, handwerklich klasse. Die Zitronen-Ofenkartoffeln runden jedes Gericht ab, aber was meist komplett vergessen wird, sind unglaublich tolle Bohnen die oft aber nicht bei jedem Gericht gereicht werden.

Man erlebt in Anna's Taverne ein echtes Highlight an griechischer Kultur, die Inhaber selbst sind die Freundlichkeit in Person, sobald man seine Hand hebt, fühlt man sich fast schon unter Freunden, es gibt nicht einen besseren oder schlechteren Gast, man merkt, dass man der König ist...

Ich kann abschließend nur eins sagen... Geht dorthin, probiert es aus, jede Sekunde, die ich bisher dort verbringen durfte war ein purer Genuss!!!

P. S. : bei fast jedem Gericht wird ein gemischter Salat gereicht, kleiner Tipp am Rande für die Gäste : lasst ihn nicht weg, der Salat mit selbstgemachten Dressing, Kalamata Olive, Lollo bionda und Jalapeños wird vor zeitnah an den Tisch gebracht, sodass die Wartezeit perfekt genutzt wird. Sehr gut zeitlich geregelt, kein einfacher Eisbergsalat, sondern wirklich, dass, was man sich wünscht.

Ich freue mich schon sehr darauf ein paar Feierlichkeiten dort...
