I stayed at the Schwarzer Adler for three weeks in the summer of 2011. It was wonderful! Just what I was looking for! I was so happy that I found a convenient choice other than someplace like the Best Western in Ansbach or the Holiday Inn on A6. I love the location - out in the country in a small village - including the agricultural sounds and smells. If you prefer to stay out of the city, away from it all, this is the place - quiet, peaceful, really restful! But it's convenient to town as well - only about 16 minutes to downtown Ansbach.||||The Trinkaus Family are wonderful hosts - friendly, helpful, great cooks. Gerhard and Roland Trinkaus speak good English (in case you don't speak any German). There is a true feeling of Gemütlichkeit at the Schwarzer Adler.||||My room was comfortable, roomy, super clean, very well kept - almost like staying in a new room. I wish there had been a small refrigerator in the room, but this is not common in a German Gasthof, after all. The wireless internet service worked just fine (speed about 3Mbps).||||The food in the restaurant is superb! The menu is varied, and the fare is known for local Frankish flavor. I didn't sample every single dish on the menu, but I didn't have a single meal that wasn't delicious. The breakfast is the normal cold cuts, cheese, hardboiled eggs, bread, fruit, juices, granola, jogurt, and coffee/tea.||||I do not hesitate to recommend the...

Read moreStayed again at the Schwarzer Adler for 10 nights - just as great as the first stay! The Trinkaus Family remain wonderfully friendly and helpful. I stayed in a double room this time, on the ground floor, but I think the best double room choice is probably Nr. 5. It is up one flight of stairs, but it is probably the quietest and coolest (in the summer) double room. The two double rooms on the ground floor can get pretty noisy when there is a party outside in the Biergarten. The restaurant is still great! Highly recommended!||My review calls this a mid-range hotel, but it's at the low area of mid-range, or maybe even budget. Double rooms are 80 euro/night, with...
