Stollenbackstube - Dresdner Christstollen — Restaurant in Dresden

For 10 years, I have ordered Dresdner Christollen each winter from this small family bakery, and have it shipped to Japan. Every year, without exception, the wonderful flavor, delicious taste, and exceptional quality is completely the same!

The hardest thing to do in the food business is to provide a consistent high quality product, every time, to every customer, year by year, and Stollebackstube has done it.

Every year we cut into this bakery's stollen, my wife takes a bite and says (in Japanese), "Aaah- THIS flavor! EXACTLY as I hoped!"

We travelled to Dresden in the holiday season last year, and tried many other bakeries version of Dresdner Christollen. Some were good. Others were very good. But none were as good as Stollenbackstube. Is it the butter, or the exact amount of spices? Maybe the exact ratios of dried fruit and nuts? It's hard to intellectualize, but just one taste, and you know it. You can taste the quality.

We were IN Dresden, surrounded by dozens of different Stollen bakeries, but after we returned to Japan, we immediately placed our usual order over the Internet.

One of if not the best bakery in Dresden. Slightly off-centre, it offers a great range from rolls and breads to biscuits, patisseries, and a selection of traditional cakes including a creamy and chocolaty Russian cheesecake and a spectacular tree cake, all at a reasonable price. Längst überfällig, die Rezension! Wie schon 2023 wurde ich auch 2024 vorstellig, vorbestellte Ware abzuholen. Vom Sohn des Hauses (der mein Nachbar war) inspiriert, tat ich dies zum 2.mal. Wieder war am vereinbarten Tag bereits alles in einer Tasche. Daheim war ich dann etwas gefräßig, so dass ich beschloss, im Januar nach Resten zu schauen. Es überschnitt sich nahezu mit einer Rabatt-mail, und so war ich abermals am Ort. Es war keinsfalls zu früh: ich bekam das letzte Marzipan-Exemplar, Mohn war längst chancenlos vergriffen; dafür versah ich mich – so sehr ich Puderzucker liebe – mit einem Stollen mit Schoko-Belag außen! Man darf schließlich mal neues ausprobieren... 4 + 2 habe ich nach dem 12.12. bereits genossen und nur 2 sind hier noch vorhanden. Kaffee und Mohntorte als Begleitung beim Kauf und Mitnahme von Brötchen kamen dabei natürlich hinzu. Mit dem Öffnen der Ladentür fängt das Erlebnis an: Ausstattung/Dekoration, Angebot, Mitarbeiter, Ware. Dafür sind es die 120 km wert! Und mein Einkaufswagen kennt inzw. den Weg von und zur 3 :-) Nun werde ich irgendwann wieder „ohne“ sitzen (müssen) und es heißt auf Dezember warten. Dafür ist eine saisonale Freude ein größerer Höhepunkt, als wenn man etwas "täglich" um sich hätte. Letztlich tut man nicht nur sich Gutes, sondern kann so auch das mittelständische Handwerk fördern! Hätte ich nicht den lieben Eric als Nachbar gehabt, müsste ich Stollen sonstwo kaufen. Gut, dass mir das...
