Waldgasthof Gut Wolfsaap — Restaurant in Dusseldorf

Was here last weekend after watching handball at the ISS Dome. The place itself is nicely located relatively deep in the forest, you have to know it’s here, you won’t spot it otherwise (or google).

We gave our order around 18:25 but unfortunately we had to wait over 1:30 hours for our meal. One of us ordered a starters but this came after 40 minutes. During our waiting time, another table also asked about the long waiting time, reason was apparently that they did not expect this amount of guests today.

We got the same answer as well after asking too, at that time it had been 1:15 hours. We in the end decided to give it 15 mins more and if no food would arrive, we would walk out and pay for the beverages and starter that had been ordered.

Generally, delayed food orders do not annoy me that much but the issue from my point of view was that the Servers did not show much interest in fixing the situation. At the time we came, we were hungry, that of course means that we expect some sort of food in a timely manner after ordering. The restaurant could have offered us some bread and butter to keep the hunger at bay but never did it look like they considered this.

When the food finally arrived, it was very good, nothing to put on that. Unfortunatly it was delivered to the table without a word of appology and during our wait time, we were not asked, if we would like to order another drink, since the first round was well finished by the time the food finally arrived.

We wish the service would have been up to par with the food. We will probably come back, but would expect...

Full Stars und wohl verdient. Wir waren mit der Familie zum erstmal dort und die Hütte war voll. Trotzdem hat man uns einen Tisch organisiert, obwohl alles ausgebucht war. Die Kellnerin, Barchef (Besitzer) waren in dem Stress sehr freundlich und bodenständig. Man bekommt traditionelle Hausmannskost. Es wird alles frisch gemacht und die Portionen sind mehr als genug. Wir hatten das Steak mit Bratkartoffeln und Salat, hausgemachter Schnitzel, Steinpilze mit Pommes und Bratkartoffeln, und Beilagen. Alles war 1A. Besser kann man das nicht machen. Die Qualität spricht für sich. Ich war so angetan, dass ich nochmal mir den Weg mache und dort zu speisen. Publikum ist sehr nett. Man kann mit seinem Nachbartisch kleine plaudernden halten. Die Kellnerinnen und der Besitzer kommen ab und zu an den Tisch und unterhalten sich mit den Gästen. Service klassisch, traditionell und sehr herzlich. Man muss ein kleiner Waldweg gehen (fahren) und dann kann man wirklich einen wunderschönen Tag neben einem Pferdestall auf einem sauberen Bauernhof verbringen. Für ein Schnitzel mit Steinpilze und Sauce, dazu Bratkartoffeln haben wir 22,50 € gezahlt. Preis ist etwas hoch, aber wenn man die Portionen und die Qualität bekommt, ist alles mehr als angemessen. Besonders lecker fand ich die Bratkartoffeln. Ohne zu übertreiben, die knackigen und leckeren Bratkartoffeln, die ich je gegessen habe!

Manko: wir müssten knapp eine Stunde auf das Essen warten, aber man hatte uns das vorher gesagt, weil wir auch selber nicht reserviert hatten. Das haben wir sehr gerne im Kauf genommen. Das Warten lohnt sich definitiv. Daher ist es auch kein Manko, sondern etwas monieren auf einem sehr sehr hohen Niveau ;-)

Fazit: Ein kleiner aber sehr idyllischer Restaurant, dass 1A Hausmannskost bietet. Alles wird frisch und in bester Qualität zubereitet. Ich hatte auch die Möglichkeiten, die Küche und dem Koch beim Zubereiten zuzusehen. Wirklich tolle Arbeit. Ein großes Lob an den Koch und alle, die täglich vor Ort arbeiten. Wenn man auf Hausmannskost steht und eine TOP 1A Qualität essen möchte, ist dieser Lokalität ein 5 Sterne Besuch wert. Wir kommen definitiv nochmal wieder. Danke für...

Finding this place was an adventure, as Google Maps led our car off-road into some barely-existent forest paths. We were lucky to get help from another couple who, funny enough, happened to be in the same situation. But hidden in the uncharted woods there was a real treasure! A very nice lady managed to sit us, although the place was already quite full. Food was a wonder! - incredibly tasty and brought fast. The home-like vibe of this place is absolutely heartwarming. A happy adventure followed by an impeccable dinner - what else could one...
