Achilles — Restaurant in Emmerich on the Rhine

Probably the worst Greek restaurant I have ever been to, don’t understand why this has a 4.6 out of 5, but alright.

I had Dalmadakia as a starter, it was not good, but not entirely bad, I was able to finish it all, it was bathed in what tasted like canned tomato sauce, left that behind tho. The meat was okay inside the grape leaves, those were quite chewy sadly.

Then for a main dish I had Gyros with ‘wine sauce’. Guess what? The wine sauce, again, taste like tomato canned sauce. So gave that to my partner, he finished it but did not like it one bit. He have me his which was the same but without the ‘wine sauce’. The meat was tasteless, no salt, no pepper, nothing, and some parts were way too burned. I understand they have those salt and pepper mills but shouldn’t they add salt and pepper first and if it would not be enough we add some more ourselves?! With this dish we got, guess what? Tomato rice! Yes, I guess everything in this restaurant runs of tomato sauce. That was also quite tasteless, even if cooked with tomatoes, didn’t have any salt either.

At the end I explained to the waiter who came to ask if my partner wanted to drink something, that the food was bland, and couldn’t finish. She was okay with it and said sorry that we didn’t like it, we said it was okay, right after that, the ‘bigger’ girl behind the bar asked her what happened, she said to the girl I found the food bland, so the ‘bigger’ (I don’t know her name) looked at me and laughed at my face. If that’s not rude I don’t know what is. Don’t understand how they allow someone who’s that disrespectful to work in the restaurant.

I wanted to give this place a 1 star, but decided to give it 2 stars because some of the waiters are quite kind, and the place is quite cozy! A mention goes towards the waiter who came with the bill, quite sweet! Her alone deserves 5 stars, super kind. Gotta say the same about the girl I explained how bland the food was to, she was quite sweet too, always smiling!

Maybe the place was too busy, or they probably do the food differently, I have been to so many Greek restaurants, but never found any with such bland food!

Won’t come back, but I wanna thank these two sweet...

We were here with 4 adults and 2 children, made a reservation and were seated after 10 minutes waiting.

Ordered 6 drinks and food and after 25 minutes 4 of them were not served properly. After 10 minutes we've received the correct drinks. One of the waitresses wasn't very respectful when told the drinks were not as we ordered.

We waited over an hour! for our food to arrive. The food we've ordered was ok, expected a little more taste. No tsatsiki was served with the food unfortunately.

Pricing was ok.

Parking was not sufficient around this...

Wir waren zu Besuch in Emmerich und zum ersten Mal in diesem Restaurant. Das Ambiente ist nicht sonderlich angenehm und wenig einladend. Die Räumlichkeiten sind ein akustisches Desaster, die Stühle zu unbequem um länger als nötig zu verweilen. Die Hektik welche vom Chef verbreitet wird ist völlig unangemessen. Wir fühlten uns hier nicht als Gäste denen man einen schönen Abend bereiten möchte sondern eher als Durchgangsposten. Nach sehr langer Wartezeit wurde dann ein Essen serviert, was den Geschmack und die Qualität einer mittelmäßigen Betriebskantine hatte. Für 5 Euro als Mittagsgericht haben wir schon besser gegessen als hier für einen weit höheren Preis. Wir kommen in Europa weit herum und sind sehr oft in Restaurants zu Gast. Dieses hier belegt für uns den vorletzten Platz unseres privaten Rankings. Die Mitarbeiterinnen vom Service waren sehr nett und freundlich. Alles in allem keine...
