Gasthof Güthlein zur Einkehr — Restaurant in Erlangen

This review is for the benefit of people who may not speak German very well. I have stayed at this hotel twice, and both times the rooms have been clean and well maintained. My room (both times) was in the back building across the parking lot from the main hotel. There is no elevator and the rooms are on the third floor.||||*Free Wi-Fi is offered here! - I had some issues with my iPhone and iPad not always keeping the connection and I had to re-login from time to time. But Free is good, and it was fast, I had no problem with FaceTime or any video streaming like you do in many hotels.||||Breakfast is small compared to other hotels I have stayed in Erlangen, but the food is good and the staff is friendly. If you are in a hurry, there is a bakery down the street.||||Dinner - good quality, the restaurant is pretty crowded most days. I did not get an English menu, but I also did not ask for one. Down the street (short walk) you can get a Donor Kabab or Pizza.||||There is a bank next door if you need to get money from the machine. You can select English on the machine, and I had no issue with my ATM card.||||I took a cab here from the town center - cost me 13 Euro plus tip.||There is a bus stop in front of the...

Sehr geehrtes Team des Restaurants Güthlein,

mit großer Wertschätzung blicke ich auf über ein Vierteljahrhundert zurück, in dem Ihr Haus zu den kulinarischen Highlights meiner Erlanger Restaurantbesuche zählt. Es ist mir daher ein Anliegen, einige Beobachtungen meines letzten Besuchs mit Ihnen zu teilen.

Trotz einer Reservierung wurden wir an einem Ecktisch neben der Zapfanlage platziert, der bei unserer Ankunft nicht vorbereitet war. Dies war eine unerwartete und nicht ganz zufriedenstellende Situation.

Bezüglich der Speisen, diese erschienen in ihrer Präsentation eher kantinenähnlich und weniger liebevoll angerichtet, was in Anbetracht der jüngsten Preiserhöhungen nicht den Erwartungen entspricht. Insbesondere fiel der Unterschied bei Gerichten wie dem Schäuferle auf, dessen Preis von 14,90 Euro im Juni auf 16,90 Euro im November gestiegen ist, während die Portionen sichtlich reduziert wurden.

Auch die Art und Weise, wie das Besteck präsentiert wurde – eingewickelt in die Serviette, die auch zum Mundabwischen dient – fand ich aus hygienischer Sicht bedenklich.

Des Weiteren war die Konsistenz des Fleisches beim Sauerbraten leider nicht zufriedenstellend, es wirkte fasrig. Das Schäuferle hingegen war geschmacklich ansprechend, wenngleich die Kruste nicht die erwartete Knusprigkeit aufwies und die Portion eher einer Vorspeise glich.

Ich bin mir der Tatsache bewusst, dass Preiserhöhungen oft unausweichlich sind, jedoch sollte dies Hand in Hand gehen mit einer angemessenen Qualität der Speisen, einem tadellosen Service und einem einladenden Ambiente. Es tut mir leid, dass ich bei meinem letzten Besuch feststellen musste, dass Preis und Leistung nicht im gewohnten Einklang standen.

In Zeiten, in denen ein Restaurantbesuch zunehmend zum Luxus wird, sind ein faires Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis und ein herausragendes gastronomisches Erlebnis von essenzieller Bedeutung. Sollte dies nicht gegeben sein, stellt sich die Frage, ob ein einfacherer Imbiss nicht ein besseres Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis bieten würde.

Ich hoffe sehr, dass Sie meine Kritik als konstruktiven Beitrag zur Weiterentwicklung Ihres etablierten Hauses verstehen und bei einem künftigen Besuch eine merkliche Verbesserung vorfinden werde.
