After an eventful day driving round airfields in Northern Germany this hotel was a welcome sight!||||The airfield is easy to find from most directions by following the "Flugplatz" signs, failing that you can fly there, it's worth it!||||As you drive towards the main building, the airfield is on your right. As the main building appears to your right, the hotel reception and main entrance is in the corner. ||||I left the checking in to my friend. We were allocated room 35 which was on the other side of the building. The room is on the 2nd floor. Main access is via the internal stairs and then via the room card . Access is also possible via the door leading onto small walkway outside the room. Think American motel and you get the idea. So if your disable or in a wheel chair ask for ground floor room. ||||The room had 2 single beds, a decent sized bathroom (Shower) with clean fresh towels. The beds were comfy. Again clean linen. We had a couple of comfy chairs to sit in and have a beer!||||There was a TV on the wall, better viewed from the chairs. The TV channels were limited if your only language is English. But I didn't go there to watch TV. There isn't any kettle or other brew equipment in the room. The Wi-Fi is free, ask at reception for details.||||As for dining, we ate in the restaurant. And the food couldn't be faulted. Top marks to the chef! The menu was either German or in English. You were spoilt for choice really. All taste were catered from what I could read of the menu. I suggest you contact the hotel on booking if your diet is from the normal diet. Afert dinner we had a beer at the bar, always fascinated how the Germans work the bars. I had the local Pilsner, my friend the local Weissbierr!||||For breakfast we went through were we ate the night and into another dining area. The choice was either continental or limited warm bacon/egg. What was on offer was enough to fill my tank for day, the first half at least!||||If arriving by plane be aware they are carrying out works in front of the restaurant area.||||For the fitness freaks out there, you have the approach road to pound your weary legs on.||||Overall this hotel puts a lot of national and international chains to shame. The staff were great and always on...

Read moreOf course I am a pilot which brought me to the Airfield Hotel in the first place. So the location is perfect when you arrive by airplane and have no other objectives than just to stay there. The restaurant appears to be a popular place to celebrate birthday or other events with the family. The food is very hearty and goes very well with a cold beer. At first I did not understand what was meant in the ad by "extraordinary breakfast". This, however, became very obvious in the morning - rarely, if ever, had I been confronted with such a selection of food for breakfast!!!! I was lucky to stay there for a few days so I was able to sample most of the things on the buffet.||||From the restaurant or the patio you can watch all the activities on the taxiways and the runway. The atmosphere at the airfield is very laid back and relaxed. ||||The rooms indeed have a slight feel of the 70s and are in need of an upgrade to keep abreast with current standards. This said, the rooms are clean and tidy. On the plus side there is WiFi in all rooms, although not in the restaurant. The staff is very very friendly and helpful and try to make you feel comfortable with...
