We booked a night in the Igludorf Dorf for my 50th birthday. ||A few learnings for other people||1. Make sure you have a good lunch before visiting - dinner in the evening is adequate and fondue is really nice but good lunch before keeps the cold at bay.||2. Don't try to fly in and go to the Igludorf the same night with young children as they are too tired to enjoy the evening ||3. Take some water with you as the restaurant closes quite early and you do need water this high up on the mountain||4. You must dress per the instructions - it is seriously cold outside the Igludorf at night||Ask the guides to give you a hot water bottle (essentially a plastic bottle or two with hot water inside) to keep hands and feet warm - particularly for the children||5. Spend lots of time in the outside hot tub just looking at the stars - magical. The changing rooms are heated so it is an excellent way to dry off any damp clothes before getting into your sleeping bag. ||6. Each Igludorf sleeps 6 so if you haven't booked a romantic iglu or a romantic family iglu remember you may be sharing with strangers - which frankly was no big deal. ||We slept really well in our arctic sleeping bags once we had excluded all draughts. We followed the guide's instructions to the letter and we certainly were not cold during the night despite getting up to go to the toilet with one of our children. ||You are woken up with tea the next morning at 7am which did feel a little early and then have to pack bags and return the sleeping bags to the restaurant before breakfast at the Sonenalpin. ||The rest of the day was our own which we spent tobogganing, having snowball fights and exploring the summit in both Germany and Austria. ||A great...

Read moreAn amazing night on the mountain. We stayed in the 'lovers nest' which was away from the other ice rooms and styled as a traditional igloo, the room had a good amount of space and furs and a mattress for comfort, would highly recommend this room, it's not as flashy as some of the others but you have more privacy and it feels more authentic.|On arrival we were greeted by the hosts and everything was translated into English for us, as a group we then walked over to the igloos and were given our sleeping bags and shown our rooms, before meeting again in the bar area, again this was beautifully decorated with all manner of sea creatures craved into the walls. At the bar we were given a welcome drink of hot wine and given a light snack before heading on an evening walk around the area, the walk was optional, but would highly recommend it, it was a clear night and the moon looked beautiful with the peaks of the surrounding mountines. Dinner was simple (cheese fondue) but very tasty and if you needed more the hosts were happy to help. After we went sledging which was great fun and had time in the hot tub and sauna. In the morning we were woken with a hot tea and walked back to the pick up point for breakfast.|The whole experience was brilliant and would recommend it to anyone. Dress warm though, the more layers the better! We went on a 'warm' night of only - 6° 😂 once under the sleeping bag though you did warm up fast. A truly wonderful experience, I cannot...
