The menu consists of coke, fanta, lemonade or beer to drink, and a schnitzel, cordon blue or pork steak, each offered in a few different manners. But it is in this manner that the dishes manage to shine; they are hand-made, and prepared with both love and mastery. Furthermore, the sizes of these few dishes on offer are astounding.
To top this all off, the staff is charming (even if it only consisted of the owner when I visited, who is a genuinely delightful man) and the place itself looks quaint-- even if the statue of a dragon right in the middle of the terrace looks a bit odd at first glance, the story that it tells is rich.

🇺🇸Found this place doing a Google search for take-away schnitzel while staying at a local hotel to bring back to my infirmed husband. So armed with the confidence of my Google-informed decision, I went over there on a Tuesday night. To say this place has an everybody-knows-your-name “Cheers” vibe is an understatement. I wish I spoke German so I could have slipped in less conspicuously. The cook/barkeep/proprietor personally handled my order (language barrier and attempted credit payment faux pas) with warmth and hospitality. Back at the hotel, I uncovered THE MOST DELICIOUS schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce and potatoes. The portion was more than enough to feed the two of us. Danke! danke!danke! I highly recommend and wish we could have eaten in and enjoyed a beer with it.

Ein echter Geheimtipp im Rheingau! Das DGH Stephanshausen überzeugt mit herzlicher Gastfreundschaft, exzellentem Service und einer Speisekarte, die keine Wünsche offenlässt.
Besonders beeindruckt hat mich die Vielfalt an Schnitzelvariationen – vom klassischen Wiener Schnitzel bis zum feurigen Drachenschnitzel ist für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei. Auch die Tagesgerichte sind stets frisch zubereitet und kreativ zusammengestellt. 
Die Portionen sind großzügig, das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis top. Das Team ist aufmerksam und freundlich, der Chef nimmt sich Zeit für einen Plausch mit den Gästen.
