Taverna Kreta — Restaurant in Gemeindeverwaltungsverband Östlicher Schurwald

We came here for the first time 4 years ago, after getting the recommendation from our tour guide. This year we came specifically to Malia, as we saw that our favourite tavern was still working and that meant great dinners.

The food is 100 out of 10, especially the meat dishes (pork chop, homemade spiced sausages or lamb veal are highly recommended, moussaka was outstanding too, grilled sea bass (seasonal offer) was to die for!). Many products are produced by the tavern owner's family, therefore the same Greek salad is much tastier than elsewhere, due to more tender Greek cheese, natural farm vegetables and delicate and delicious homemade olive oil.

Went here for dinner 10 nights out of all 14, and only regretted that we did not go to dinner all of the 14 nights, as well as for lunches.

Tavern is known for its great service, incredible atmosphere and food - you will lick your fingers, that much tasty it is! Food portions are generous, and most importantly - will make you want to eat all of it. We have received as well good compliments from the chef both before the meal (bread with meze) and complimentary dessert (pieces of delicious watermelon and melon) after the meal. Sometimes it can happen that a certain dessert on the menu is not available (for example, if seasonal cherries or strawberries are not available or this desert requires a longer time in making, therefore will be made fresh and available only on certain days), but then the host offers an even tastier alternatives ( for example - quince jam to go with yogurt instead of planned cherries that go there by default). All the desserts we have tried are beyond praise.

Very tasty and high quality homemade (although very on the budget) wines and great options for bottled wines

The establishment is also suitable for vegetarians, as there are good and very tasty food options for them, however the specifics of this place I would consider meat.

The only tavern in Crete that NEVER let us down with food and always made us extremely happy and definitely worth the walk. I highly recommend the tavern to other tourists and I myself hope to come here again for more delicious food.

A very friendly owner Georgos, to whom apparently many guests have been coming for years, which is evident from the way they greet him and how they feel in the tavern.

The only thing I can advise to those who are interested is to book a table in advance, as it gets crowded in the evenings during the high season, so it is better to call and reserve a place for yourself to get into the "garden" part of the restaurant and sit under a beautiful, sprawling olive tree. The main hall is just as beautiful and comfortable, and the fan is running, so on a rainy day you should not put off going to...

Am Wochenende da gewesen und sehr unzufrieden. Wir wollten eigentlich, nachdem wir sehr unfreundlich empfangen wurden sofort wieder gehen, da wir allerdings einige km gefahren sind um dort essen zu können sind wir dennoch geblieben.

Das Essen war nicht gut, dass Fleisch war trocken und zäh, der griechische Hackbraten noch teilweise roh. Bedienung fragte nachdem essen ob alles gut gewesen war und nachdem wir unseren Unmut kund getan haben kam ein ok, nachdem Motto ist mir doch egal.

Beim Bezahlen wurde eine Quittung auf einem Notizblock geschrieben und erst nach mehrmaligem Fragen eine richtige Quittung ausgeschrieben, allerdings auch handschriftlich.

Wir waren mit dem Schlemmerblock dort und wollten aufgrund des Aufwands, da nur ein Essen bezahlt wird Trinkgeld geben und nicht einmal das wurde anerkannt und auf den Cent genau raus gegeben.

Beim Verlassen des Vereinsheims wurden wir weder verabschiedet noch wahrgenommen und so werden wir es in Zukunft gegenüber dieser "Gastronomie" auch halten,...

Das erste mal bestellt und vermutlich nie wieder. Nachdem mir die Tür aufgespert wurde von einem älteren Herr ohne Begrüßung, wurde mir nur der Preis genannt. Etwas mehr als laut online angegeben, aber ok. Ich hatte den gegrillten Oktopus bestellt der in einer Styroporbox verpackt war mit einem Stück in Öl angeröstetem Fladenbrot welches in Alufolie zusätzlich verpackt war. Brot war gesalzen und Oktopus bitter. Das Schnitzel in Metaxasauce war ebenfalls in einer Styroporbox und das Fleisch mit Sauce zusätzlich in einer Alufolie eingeschlagen. Also Folie wollte ich nicht essen. Es verhinderte auch nicht das Auslaufen in der Tüte obwohl die Tüte immer aufrecht stand. Schnitzel war trocken, Sauce ok aber schon bessere gegessen, Bratkartoffel kann man wohl nicht viel falsch machen, Salat ok genau so wie Tzatziki aber auch schon besser gegessen. Und dafür darf man dann 30 Euro...
