I made a reservation of a room at Hotel Zollersteighof months in advance. I was asked about expected time of arrival and I mentioned 5-7PM but that was just an estimation since you can never know how traffic will be when you reach from Munich.||Recent confirmation was made a week prior to our arrival||||We arrived at 4PM and the hotel seemed to be closed and deserted (the restaurant did not work on that day). We rang the bell at the entrance, but no one responded. We called the hotel and no one replied.||After about an hour, a hotel guest saw us and told us that she did not see the owners since breakfast and that no one is at the hotel at the moment (her friends were hiking). She tried to assist us but did not really know how (and I assume our story sounded a bit suspicious even that we showed us her correspondence with the hotel and their confirmation). ||Another hour passed and her friends returned from the hike and tried to assist us by calling the phone number, but again no one replied. Eventually they decided to search for keys at reception and gave us key for one room, hoping to deal with the owners later or on the following morning.||Only at about 6:30PM, one of the owners showed from one of the rooms (maybe her office) and said that we were supposed to show only at 7PM. That was a weird reply since that is not what we told them, and in any case I would expect someone to be at reception no later than 5PM or at least reply to the phone.||||All that ruined our experience at that hotel, and could be even worse if the hotel guests were not assisting us with that issue. The owners did not bother to apologize for their weird behavior. I can only guess that it's not the first time that guests encounter such experience at that hotel.||||As for the room, it was relatively big. But since it was on the upper floor, the ceiling was slanted which made it less comfort to sleep in bed.||Breakfast was OK, but who could enjoy it after such a...

Read moreOur family stayed one night at this hotel and ate in their restaurant for dinner & breakfast. We were greeted with warmth & courtesy upon checking in to the hotel (I'm sorry I didn't get her name, she was lovely!) The rooms were clean, spacious and decorated with light wood furniture with amazing views of the landscape from our room (Room #20). Our family had two other rooms on the first floor, equally nice. The service in the restaurant was excellent, friendly & helpful, especially with our language barrier. The food was delicious at both dinner and breakfast. After dinner we took a short hike on the trail behind the hotel and had an amazing view of the Hohenzollern Castle. This is off the beaten path, but highly recommended! You will not be disappointed, it was wonderful. Courtesy, great food and a good night's sleep goes a long way when you're on vacation! Thank you to the staff for a...
