Deutsches Haus Gruibingen provided a good overall experience. The food was consistently excellent, both for lunch/daytime meals and in the evening – we really enjoyed every dish.Service was pretty much what you'd expect from a hotel, perfectly fine and met our needs without any issues. Our room was a pleasant surprise. The one we had was larger than we anticipated, which was a definite plus, and even came with a small outdoor terrace. While that terrace was indeed small, it was a nice little extra. Inside, our room felt quite modern and well-appointed, and the shower, in particular, was notably luxurious – a real highlight for me. (Just a note that not every room might be this big or have a terrace, so it's worth checking if these features are important to you.)For families, there's also a small playground on site, with a slide as well. It's adequate enough, stretching about 14 meters in length from start to finish (just a guess from what I saw, I didn't use a ruler!), and could likely accommodate around 15 children playing comfortably. This is just a note for families to consider, as they can decide if it suits their needs.Regarding the location: you will notice the Autobahn, but it's more of a low background noise and not as loud as most might expect, especially considering how close it is. This is likely due to the height difference and the surrounding trees, which seem to help dampen the sound. Personally, we could live with it, but it's worth noting as for some people, it might be more of an issue.Overall, Deutsches Haus Gruibingen offers a great combination of quality dining and comfortable, modern accommodation. I'd recommend it as a stopover point for one or two nights. For longer stays, I can't say, as I haven't experienced...
Read morePRO: Big room on 3*-level. Bathroom size appropriate. Great German breakfast buffet - nothing to complain about on this. ||CONs: Terribly loud. On last of 3 days: No warm water for taking a shower in all rooms at peak time 07.15 a.m..||Autobahn A8 running some meters below the hotel; rooms are facing A8. At least, this is steady noise, which didn't allow me to sleep with windows open. ||Even worse is the noise caused by morning deliveries, starting already at 5.00-5.30 a.m.: slamming doors, noisy loading and deloading, talking - all directly in front of my room. No chance to have a relaxing sleep! Reply to my complaint from owner's assistant: Those people must accomplish their work. Weird service understanding, at least for me. ||As seminar hotel absolutely unusable! Uncomfortable chairs, mostly poor equipment.||Restaurant is mass processing - most of the time very full. Nothing special - just okay, but very popular to...
Read moreWe were travelling from the UK through to Venice and were booking accommodation ad hoc. We booked this little gem last minute as it was just off the main dual carriageway.||We managed to park and tried to check in. Obviously it was a Sunday and the restaurant and bar where you also queue to check in were manic. I think the whole town were eating there so it took a while to check in. I can’t say we were shown to our room, we were handed a key and abandoned but managed to find the right corridor to our room.||The room was lovely, bright and light, with a balcony overlooking a nice view. We booked a table and went and sat at the bar. The Weiss beer was delicious after a long drive.||The food later on was lovely, home cooked food and enormous portions which we had to take with us the next day.|| Breakfast was ample. Wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely recommend and hopefully return. One of the highlights of...
