We arrived on Thursday to find that reception is closed (to be fair this was in the fine print of the booking but we were not the only guests confused by this). Entry to the hotel was achieved by a phone call to the hosts who gave a code to the key lock box. We then had to navigate a dark and lonely hallway to find our room upstairs. ||||The room was a bit on the small side but clean. It shared a balcony with two other rooms. Unfortunately our bathroom window also opened onto the shared balcony which was a trifle disconcerting.||||Internet access required an individual code that had to be printed out by the hosts. We had to wait until they returned an hour or so after our arrival to get this. We also found out that the hotel restaurant was closed - one of our main reasons for booking. Fortunately there was one restaurant open in town (the Klosstermuhle) and dinner there was great.||||On the positive side we slept well and breakfast was very good. Read moreStayed for 2 nights. We had a balcony room with pleasant views across the outskirts of the village and adjacent farmland. The rooms were simple but comfortable although the bathroom was a tad on the small side. Breakfast (continental - imagine) was plentiful and varied. Dinner was superb - the first time I have eaten Zander and it was delicious - down in-part, I'm sure, to the preparation and style of cooking. Between us we had 4 different main courses and all of them were expertly prepared and a joy to eat. This is a great place to stay to see the surrounding countryside but the icing on the cake was Rot and der Rot itself - what a beautiful, friendly place; it has some very interesting buildings but above all a sense of serenity.
