Grasberger Hof — Restaurant in Grasberg

I stayed at the Grasberger Hof for four nights and enjoyed it very much. I had a ground floor room in the 'guesthouse', a separate building from the hotel proper, and it was a very nice and quiet room. One day there was a wedding reception with two participants next door to me and still, when in my room, I heard nothing, if I had not gone outside to walk over to the restaurant, I would have had no idea anything was going on. I thought the breakfast buffet was very good, some of the best (raw) salmon I have ever had. Yes, Europeans like their raw and pickled fish and I enjoy it for breakfast as well. I had dinner in the restaurant here all four nights and was never disappointed. Each salad came with a delicious dressing. First night I had a Schnitzel, second night Hirsch (Red Deer), third night steak, fourth night Hirsch again, yes, it was (I thought even more delicious than the steak) excellent. There was no English menu so I had it easy with a Danish friend who speaks fluent German but I have been in Germany many times and can get around by myself pretty well. I was the one who spotted the Hirsch on the menu and knew I don't get the opportunity to eat Red Deer in the USA so went for it. My friend thought that was a great choice too. One more meal there and I would have tried some fish. I would go out of my way to stay at the Grasberger Hof again or to eat in...

This was my second stay at the hotel. The first visit was a pleasant stay but this time surprised by the room and staff. My room was on the top floor despite asking by phone call to have a room on the lowest floor due to two knee operations. The ceiling in the room was at such a slope I kept hitting my head every time I got out of bed. I had a paper stating our breakfast was included in the price we paid but the breakfast staff would not honor it and we left without breakfast. Preiswert war es, keine Frage. Aber das war auch schon alles. Pampige Sprüche an der Rezeption, die wir uns noch mit "Naja, familiengeführtes Hotel in der niedersächsischen Provinz, da geht es einfach etwas derber zu..." schönredeten. Dann die billige, lieblose 08/15-Einrichtung des Zimmers, für die sich jedes Best Western Hotel geschämt hätte (das klassische Plastikholz). Nicht mal eine Minibar, nicht mal ein Wasserkocher. Das Wasser zur Erfrischung natürlich mit Preisetikett. Das Frühstück war halbwegs ok (im unteren 3-Sterne Bereich etwa). Samstag nacht dann zwei Hochzeiten. Laut. Sehr laut. Selbst mit geschlossenen Fenstern. Ich kann wirklich jedes Hotel verstehen, das sich mit Hochzeitsveranstaltungen ein Zubrot verdienen möchte, aber ich verstehe noch besser jeden Hotelgast, der noch vor drei Uhr nachts einfach nur einschlafen möchte und nach und nach Mordgelüste entwickelt, wenn die Bässe einfach nicht aufhören zu wummern. Super-hellhörige Zimmer sowieso. Mastercard wurde beim Auschecken nicht akzeptiert ("Sie hatten als Gruppe einen Sonderpreis. Da nehmen wir nur EC-Karte"). Wer einfach nur billig unterkommen will und eine entsprechende Absteige sucht - ok.
