Sonne — Restaurant in GVV Denzlingen-Vörstetten-Reute

We (2 adults, 1 baby) stopped here on our way to Switzerland for 1 night before we continued our road trip. It’s a cute traditional home where (I assume) the upper floors were repurposed to create hotel rooms. Therefore indeed some rooms don‘t have private bathrooms, but this is clearly communicated beforehand. We had a room with only a shower and sink. This didn’t bother us at all, as the facilities, towels, etc. were clean! Yes, some furnishings are a bit dated, but we found it all very cozy and charming. As if you’re staying at a friends place or a family home. Who cares if the tiles are retro (for us it was indeed just like at home - haha) as long as the bathroom works! By the way there are after all in Western Europe few and far between independent hotels, where you can still stay over night for under 100 euros and get value for money like here. We arrived in the middle of dinner service in the restaurant (there is no designated reception - which makes sense because it is a more like an inn and not a full-blown hotel) and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The crib was ready in the room as ordered, our baby slept peacefully and we were allowed to order food late (tasted great!) and eat it in the lounge in front of our room (no. 8). Vorweg, der Service und die Gastfreundlichkeit sind wirklich sehr gut. Tatsächlich war mein/unser "Aufenthalt" in der Gartenwirtschaft aber am Ende eher nicht so toll.

Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und das Ambiente ist auch sehr schön. Der Service ist wirklich toll, sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und zuvorkommend. Hatten unseren 4-Beiner dabei und es wurde auch sofort Wasser gebracht. Einfach top!

Das Essen ist OK, aber für den Preis dann eben doch nicht mehr. Die Portion ist überschaubar und angerichtet ist es auch nicht wirklich toll. Ein Mittagstisch für 7,- Euro sieht genauso aus. Geschmacklich ist es dem Preis nicht gerechtfertigt.

Wir wollten einen Salat und da ich auf Knoblauch nicht wirklich toll reagiere, war die Frage, ob es denn eine Salatsoße ohne Knoblauch gäbe. Die Antwort war: "Leider Nein, aber ich kann Ihnen Essig und Öl auf den Tisch stellen, dann können Sie sich selbst eine machen". Auf Nachfrage, ob der Koch nicht eine machen könne, kam die Antwort: "Das geht nicht". Ganz ehrlich, dafür gehe ich nicht in ein Restaurant. Im nächsten Stepp kann ich mir dann mein Fleisch selbst braten? Schade, aber in einer solch teuren Gastronomie (eigentlich grundsätzlich) erwarte ich, dass der Koch in der Lage ist, eine Salatsoße ohne Knoblauch herzustellen. So schwer kann das, wenn man den Beruf gelernt hat, nicht sein und ich denke, das ist auch nicht wirklich ein außergewöhnlicher Wunsch. Ich wollte ja keinen BigMac oder eine Pizza. Man sollte hier schon auf den Gast eingehen und das nicht nur in der aktuellen Corona-Lage. Aber hier sollte man meinen, die Gastronomie war so lange geschlossen, da versucht man den Gast zufrieden zu stellen. Leider Nein. Also gab es keinen Salat. Schade.

Wir haben dann Spargel bestellt, ohne Salat zur Vorspeise (ist ja alles Knoblauch-Verseucht). Dieser war aber nicht gut gekocht. Die Stangen waren hart und sogar die Spitzen, die eigentlich der weichste Teil sind, waren nicht zart. Auch die Menge war für den aufgerufenen Preis zu gering. Der Geschmack war auch nicht so toll.

Das zweite Gericht war Badischer Sauerbraten mit Spätzle und Preiselbeeren. Auch das war den Preis nicht Wert. Einen Beilagensalat gab es dazu nicht (hätte ich mit Knoblauchdressing aber auch nicht gegessen). Bei fast 20,- Euro für das Gericht hätte man das erwarten können. Es gab dann nicht mal eine Handvoll Spätzle, 2 Scheiben Fleisch und die Preiselbeeren kamen mir vor wie Marmelade.

Fazit: Ambiente und Service wirklich spitze. Geschmack und Menge des Essens eher nicht so. Angerichtet und Serviert war es eher wie ein Mittagstisch, statt einem gelungenen Abendessen. Flexibilität der Küche nicht gegeben. Schade, aber wir gehen hier definitiv nicht mehr essen.

Stopped here while travelling to the Netherlands. We booked a room with an on suite bathroom. Due to an error of Booking.com we were provided with a room which had an on suite shower but the WC was on the landing and had to be shared with other rooms. The room was large and very comfortable. Everything was spotless including the landing WC. Our dog was accepted to stay with us for a small payment of 7 euros. The proprietor showed us the booking on his computer which clearly identified that the problem was with Booking.com. To pacify us the proprietor offered us a cup of tea and a beer. We ate in the restaurant. ITypically they start eating early and close early. The food was excellent and the service was very good. All the personnel were very friendly.
