I loved this place and everything it has to offer! From the hiking routes, patches of cows and goats, and random walking routes, to the actually food, service, and atmosphere. FOOD: the food was fantastic! Overall the meat is very fresh and it is so easy to taste this. It is rich in flavour, it can actually be a bit more on the salty side if you add too much sauce (which they serve you additional sauce on the side). The pork and beef are fantastic and well cooked, not over nor under done and very juicy. The salads are so nice and flavorful, they add either a nice sweet, sour, or peppery taste to your meat portion. The fresh side salad has a calm nice sauce in it. They juices were the best! Desserts were unexpectedly good! Not overly sweet, just perfect! Very much recommended! SERVICE: I must say, my German is not great, but the guy was super nice, they all went above and beyond to make sure I understood what the food and the deserts contained, and they incorporated a substantial amount of humor which I don’t encounter very often, it made me feel comfortable and welcomed. Food was ready rather quick and they always check that we have everything we need from our order to additional sauce or drinks. It was very pleasant to talk to them. ATMOSPHERE: it is very lively, very dynamic, not loud at all, super easy to talk to your family or friends, very welcoming and tables are at a very decent distance not to feel disturbed by others while still feeling cozy and warm. Bathrooms are clean and nice and items are readily available. Definitely...
Read moreOh mercy me that view! This place is all about the atmosphere but I must say, the food is solid as well. We actually walked here from the Bergstation which takes about 30m along the roadside but it's worth it if you're staying for a while. We got lucky and found some spots in the shared-table Bierhalle-style outdoor seating right when we got there but it's very possible there will be a wait if you come during the peak times. I got the Schnitzel with Spätzle of course and my date got the Bratwürste (small portion -- which is great that they offer that!). I also got an Almdudler to drink, which felt perfect to drink while overlooking the cows in the rolling hills, and my date got a white wine that she said was the best she's had in a while. Our food came out and while it wasn't the best German cuisine I've had, it hit the spot and feeling the breeze on your face while basking in the sun of a tri-country hillside doesn't hurt the taste. We made sure to save room for Kaiserschmarrn afterward as we saw several other tables had ordered it. After the 20m+ wait (worth it), they bring it in a sizzling pan with a side of your choice (we got Apfelmus). We dug in immediately and man was it good! While I like my Kaiserschmarrn a tad crispier, eating it out of the still-frying pan was fantastic. All in all, we really enjoyed our meal and I highly recommend on a nice day, even with the hike there and...
Read moreOne star due to the below reasons. I will never go back. Waiter wasn’t friendly to us. He was friendly to all the Germans though. I did my best to speak in German (it’s not perfect but all other places understand me), not like I didn’t try and expected him to speak English. Waiter opened umbrellas for all the Germans. Not us. We sat in the hot sun. Once he had opened umbrellas for everyone around us and excluded us, we decided to leave. I hiked 17km to reach this place. I asked for the Weiner schnitzel which was on the specials board. Then the waiter told me they had run out of Weiner schnitzel. Poor form. Don’t have it on the board if you don’t have it. The women’s bathroom was very smelly. The end. Do not recommend. There’s a nice view but...
