I spent my 20th night in the 20th hotel during my roadtrip to sub-arctic Scandinavia from Switzerland in this very pleasant inn with its origin in the 17th century. It's placed between the main road through the valley and a small stream running from the heights. The rooms are very well equipped including a long shoe horn, a walking stick, both in wood and a fly swat in wood-leather, a first among the past 19 hotels. A back pack including a mug and a thermos for the gentleman farmer guest who has forgotten his own completed the equipment. Impressive! Beds and bedlinen are excellent and the shower has force enough to remove all sweat and dirt from your body after your hike through the Black Forest. Since I had already covered more than 700 km by car that day, I preferred a cold draught in their beer garden before taking my dinner in the pleasant dining room. In retrospective, I should have taken one of the trout dishes on offer but being a fan of calf kidneys I chose this option. Like it often happens when kidneys are served in a hot sauce they become overcooked before they reach the customer which was my case. So if this is your choice, ask the waitress that you want them rosé when they arrive at your table. The cherry cake was massive in size but very good and the Spätburgunder by the glass not really up to the standard I had expected. In the morning the breakfast opens at 08 and is of a quality that definitely matches the star rating of the hotel. Overall, an excellent experience with some room for improvement on the restaurant and...
Read moreWe've stayed in this part of the Munstertal a couple of times previously, and found the Zur Linde was the best place locally to eat at, so decided on this visit to stay there as well.||All of the ground floor is given over to the restaurant / bar / breakfast room, so you have to be prepared to climb the stairs to the rooms on the upper 2 floors. I mention this because my wife has some problems climbing stairs, but these are not steep or narrow and she coped with them with no problems. Obviously, wheelchair access would be more problematical.||||The room itself on the first floor wasn't large but perfectably adequate and very nicely furnished. Likewise the bathroom, which had a shower rather than a bath. Although our room looked out onto the road, and earplugs are provided, there is no need for them as traffic is very light, and we had good nights sleep on a very comfortable bed.||||The restaurant still lives up to the standards of previous visits so we ate there both nights. Breakfast is an excellent buffet with a good selection of cold meats / cheese etc, and eggs cooked to order.||||Everything is extremely well done and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, and an added bonus is that it is very...
