We arrived on a Thursday for a 2 night stay in this hotel. We arrived in the dark and had no idea of how it looked like.||||When we arrived we had no access to the gate but only if we payed 2 euros for parking. Later in the hotel we received a code (was in our room on the welcome paper together with the code for the door, fitness and most important: the Wi-Fi code) so we could enter without paying. They should have given us the code when we booked (in the confirmation). But that is where the 'negative' points end.||||The hotel is very old (18th century) but well maintained and perfectly clean! Our room was very spacious with a separate seating area with 3 chairs, couch and work-desk! There was a separate toilet room with sink and separate shower room, great to have them in two different rooms.||||All furntinure was antique and in perfect shape. Great atmoshpere in the room.||||There was a minibar and candy/nuts/chocolate bars. The money you have to pay for it is even less than in a restaurant. So the first time we actually used it as the minibar is in most hotels, also in Germany, expensive.||||For our stay we had complimentary coffee (Nespresso machine, 2 bottles of pellegrino water everyday, 10 chocolate pieces on a platter and 2 chocolate bars on our bed upon arrival) and a fruit basked with 3 apples and 1 pear.||||So all in all a perfect room!||||We had dinner in the restaurants, although the price is, compared to German standards, not very low it is not expensive either. Also the food and dishes are of very high quality and good taste. Totally worth the price also considering the luxury antique interior of the restaurant and very good serving personel.||||Breakfast was also fantastic, a basked with 4 kinds of breadrolls (2 each) and croissant on your table. Without asking we received 2 freshly made omelettes with vegetables. The breakfast buffet had cerials, yoghurt, cheeses, meat, but also olives and such. Enough choice for everyone's wishes! We were in the breakfast area for about an hour and the waitress asked us very kindly if we required any thing else a couple of times. Very good!||||And last but not least: Wi-Fi was excellent!||||All in all a great hotel in a fantastic area (middle of...
Read moreWe first stayed at this hotel around 20 years ago when my brother held his wedding reception there. Then, it was tired and not at all inspiring. However the hotel has been taken over and refurbished to a very high standard. We were amazed at the size of our room, considering the price per night. It was more of a suite: lounge area with a big screen TV, separate toilet, comfy sofa, desk...there was even a lovely cot although it's many years since we've needed one of those! The bed was very comfy with separate mattresses which you could raise at the leg and/or head end like a hospital bed. There was soap in the bathroom but no shampoo or shower gel. In the toilet was a box for ladies only, with some handy supplies of ladies' necessities. A nice touch!||||Because the hotel is bang in the middle of a forest, it was incredibly quiet and dark at night which ensured a great night of undisturbed rest. It's a great location for walking, or on a sunny day you could just sit on the terrace with a cold beer and watch the ducks on the pond.||||Only a couple of slight niggles: breakfast was a bit chaotic as they seemed to have forgotten we'd booked it, but they soon got us sorted with coffee, orange juice and a couple of plates of cold meats & cheese. ||||Checkout was a bit of a faff, firstly because there was a 60th birthday party just starting so there were a lot of noisy people in a fairly small space, and secondly a quibble over our room rate. Luckily I had my printed confirmation so I was charged what I was expecting. My brother and his wife had a similar experience for their room as well: maybe we were given higher standard rooms than we'd booked but again the hotel sorted very quickly. So my advice would be to ensure you have your confirmation with you just in case.||||I've deducted one star because there could maybe have been more in the way of toiletries, plus ||the slightly chaotic checkout, but I would absolutely stay at this hotel again. Very good...
