Gasthaus "Zum Alten Wirth" - Bernd Reichel — Restaurant in Huglfing (VGem)

A really great place with good traditional food prepared in the proper way. Had the schäufele which was so satisfying, it’s a dish I really love and they did a really great one (it’s their specialty). If you’re hungry and enjoy a good, large chunk of pork roast then this is a place to have it. Sat outside on a hot sunny day, was lovely.

I also found the service to be really good. I’ll definitely be back, I’m happy to take a nice country drive just to go...

Kübelkartoffelsalat und TK-Schnitzel

Wir waren gestern, an einem Montag gegen 15:30Uhr in diesem Gasthaus. Bestellt habe ich das große Schnitzel mit lauwarmem Kartoffelsalat. Ich freute mich noch, dass ich den Koch Schnitzelklopfen gehört habe. Als ich das Schnitzel Anschnitt, habe ich schon gemerkt, dass es relativ sehnig und knorpelig war. Gut - eine Ecke mal n Knorpel oder ne Sehne drin - geschenkt. Aber das komplette Schnitzel war einziger großer Knorpel und Sehnenbrocken - das Fleisch teils über 2cm dick. Die Hälfte habe ich ungefähr um die Sehnen und Knorpel drumherum schneiden können. Als mich die durchaus sehr freundliche Kellnerin fragte, ob sie etwas einpacken sollte, habe ich ihr meine Unzufriedenheit mitgeteilt. Sie verstand es auch auf Anhieb und ließ es sich nicht nehmen, mir ein neues, kleines Schnitzel zu bringen. Also gut, versuch zwei. Der Koch klopft kein Schnitzel... Was sagt uns das? Yehaa, ich bekomme Tiefkühlware! Nunja, mal sehen, ob das besser schmeckt. Und tatsächlich, die TK-Schnitzel sind offensichtlich besser, als die, die der Koch zubereitet.... 🧐 Ein Schnitzel, das absolut gleichmäßige Panade hat und überall exakt gleich dick ist, ist ein TK-Schnitzel.

Der Kartoffelsalat ist eindeutig aus dem Kübel - alles eine einzige Pampe, die mit ein paar Salat-Gürkchen gepimpt wurde.

This was a chance encounter. My son looked it up for dinner since our first option was closed. And what a luck to find this place with wonderful food and great ambience. The menu was in German and while we were Google translating, a gentleman approached us and helped selecting the items. What a great treat it was. A must...
