We (2 couples) traveled from Tyrolia to Taunus. Along the way we booked an apartment at Gasthaus Roessle in the quiet little town of Lautrach. The hotel is not too far from the A 92, so it was a very convenient location for us. ||Gasthaus is a typical German Gasthaus... neat and orderly... and a guarantee of a good night's sleep. The owner greeted us upon arrival and described the various amenities and showed us to our second floor apartment. Our apartment was spacious... I would guestimate 120 square meters with a large country kitchen (which doubled as dining and TV room), 2 bedrooms and a huge bathroom with separate shower and bath tub. The kitchen is equipped to prepare a meal, open wine bottles and keep the beer cold. A small full-service grocery store is within 50 meters of the Gasthaus and offers everything from fresh meat and wurst to liquor and beer. ||||Ample closet space is available in each of the bedrooms, and the beds were comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet, so a restful night of sleep is guaranteed. The complimentary WIFI worked well throughout the hotel, and we had no problems making VOIP calls to Colombia and the USA. The Gasthaus includes a pleasant little biergarten off to the side of the main building. The restaurant also serves full meals during the late afternoon and early evening... accompanied by steins of fine local beer. I enjoyed my wurst salad very much... not too heavy and not too light. The menu is varied and priced reasonably. The complimentary breakfast was adequate with a tendency to more "continental" than "full." ||||Overall, the Gasthaus is in pretty good shape, but will be in need of a facelift soon. The locks on the doors are all of the traditional keyed-type... and there are no safes in the rooms. We found it interesting that the second floor includes a combination theater and conference room... the local thespian group makes use of this room... and I imagine the various civic groups as well. ||||I would highly recommend Gasthaus Roessle from traveling couples or families as a comfortable, affordable option in a real German neighborhood. The second floor apartment was too good a...

Read moreThis place is right across from the famous Black Forest clock maker. We picked up an authentic clock and set out for a dining experience beyond belief. I wanted to eat 2 of everything on the menu. I was so happy with our experience here. We were literally in the middle of the black forest and had one of the best European dining experiences, ever! I cannot even begin to describe this place. The food was great. The staff mad you feel like you were visiting relatives. They sat and talked with us and made us feel like part of their family. We will be going back here again. This is a top spot in...
