Amazing location and views! One of my team member is from this area of saxony and he knows a lot of hikes around in this national park. We had our team lunch here with 6 people and started our hike from Bad Schandau hbf. This restaurant was our perfect lunch stop. The hike till there is amazing and this restaurant feels like an absolutely perfect stop point. One can rest here, enjoy warm meals and get going again. It’s warm and cozy inside. Although it tends to get a bit busy around 2 pm even on the week days. They accept all forms of payments and the staff does speak English. One can also find daily special and cakes. I tried the baked zucchini with rice dish and their warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. I found the portions good sized and dessert 🍮 was equally nice as well. Very nice food, the view and the place are amazing. Toilets are also very clean. It was a bit overpriced but the portions were satisfying. The reason for the 3 star review is the service. Although in the beginning everything was fine the woman serving was very friendly and gave us a table in the terrace and attended to all our needs. After we finished our dinner they were coming every two minutes to ask us if we wanted something more. They came more than 4 times in a time span of 10 minutes which ended up being very annoying. After hiking in the Switzerland national park in Saxon, I read about bergwirtschaft papstein. The images were looking great and I was looking forward to a cozy meal after a good hike.

Some comments and a blog mentioned the stairs to get to this place, which made me hesitate a bit after a day hike, but it was very doable. It takes about 10 minutes and it’s a clear path.
