Achilles Grill & Hotel — Restaurant in Kirkel

As other reviewers have noted, the rooms are very modern and clean (mid-2019), and the staff/family running the place are very friendly, plus it's attached to a great Greek restaurant (do reserve a table; on the Saturday evening that we were there, we were glad we'd made booked seats when checking-in to the hotel, as it was full at 7 p.m. and we saw spontaneous visitors being turned away). We only stayed 1 night, but it's a place that can easily be a base for a longer visit; we didn't get a chance to look ourselves, but the map indicates that a hiking trail or two starts in the forest just across the state road in front of the hotel. (Checking their website just now, I see they actually offer 4-hour guided hikes along trails in the area)|Two things to beware of: if arriving from the south (i.e. heading northeast from nearby Rohrbach or the Kirkel-Neuhäusel district toward Kirkel proper), the map and also our GPS/navigator incorrectly indicated that the little parallel street where the hotel is located is a sort of half arc; that isn't true, as the middle of the "arc" is a farmyard, so way to reach the hotel is the little street portion directly in front of it (i.e., the northern access to the "arc").|Second, when arriving for check-in, look into the restaurant first to see if they can handle you there; while there's a reception desk on the upper floor that can be reached via steps on the outside of the building, it...

Mein Partner und ich besuchten das Achilles Hotel für ein Wochenende. Zunächst die positiven Aspekte:

Das Zimmer, sowie das angrenzende Bad, war sauber und größtenteils abgestaubt. Bis auf die Glühbirnen und Lampenschirme konnte so weit kein Staub gefunden werden. Wir befanden uns im Zimmer "Santorini", welches in Graustufen gehalten war und selbstverständlich ein Bild der Küste von Santorini enthält. Somit stimmte die Region und die Einrichtung. Die Dusche ist groß, die Glastüren sind vollständig gereinigt und streifenfrei ... so auch der Spiegel. Unser Vierbeiner durfte mit ins Zimmer und fühlte sich äußerst wohl.

Unsere Verbesserungsvorschläge: Besetzen Sie die Rezeption. Die offenliegende Keycard ist nicht geschützt und enthält zudem den (Vor)Namen des Kunden. Erneuern Sie die Farbschicht des Schreibtisches für Zimmer 103 "Santorini". Die Kaffeetassenflecken und andere Abnutzungen sehen unschön aus und wirken unliebsam behandelt. Reinigen Sie die Duschköpfe und entkalken Sie diese. Die Regendusche funktioniert, gibt aber nicht das "Regenduschen-Gefühl" der sanften, kleinen niederprasselnden Tropfen ab. Befestigen Sie Ablagen in der Dusche. Es ist nicht möglich, eigene Utensilien aufzustellen, ohne diese auf den Boden der Dusche ablegen zu müssen. Bringen Sie andere Lampen am Badezimmerspiegel an, die momentan verbauten Lampen liefern schlicht und ergreifend nicht genug Licht, um auch am Abend detailliert mit Make-Up oder Ähnlichem zu arbeiten. Sorgen Sie für einen gehobeneren Kühlschrank. Der kleine Schrank ist geräuschlos, groß genug um Flaschen zu platzieren und einsehbar ... kühlt jedoch nicht ausreichend. Lediglich die Objekte, die direkten Kontakt zur Rückwand haben, bleiben kühl.

Das Fazit: Für einen Aufenthalt von wenigen Nächten, ohne besondere oder hochgesteckte Ansprüche, ist das Achilles Grill & Hotel geeignet. Das Reisen mit Haustier ist ermöglicht, die Umgebung ruhig und das Hotel sauber. Wer sich nach einem richtig guten Hotel mit großartigem Service, durchdachten Zimmern und wunderbarem Ausblick sehnt, wird hier nicht glücklich. Da das Hotel direkt an der Hauptstraße liegt und keinerlei Anbindung zu anderen Orten pflegt, abgesehen von genannter Straße, ist auch die Lage nicht perfekt gewählt.
