Though I’m a first-time reviewer, I’ve been a guest at Daniels am Markt many times over the past few years. I’ve been fortunate to experience the culinary cultures of many of the world’s great cities—Paris, Barcelona, Köln, Istanbul, New York, and London, to name a few. Yet I say with the utmost sincerity: the most pleasurable dining experience of my life has been, and continues to be, in the small Rhineland town of Kusel, nestled in its charming old town market square. Visit after visit, Daniel and Uli deliver a masterclass in detail and hospitality, without ever creating a high-pressure or rushed atmosphere. From the moment you enter, you’re enveloped in a quiet warmth that immediately puts you at ease. That feeling spreads through the room, subtly influencing the mood of fellow guests. Then, almost effortlessly, the culinary journey begins—guided by Uli’s graceful orchestration of the dining room. And then you eat. I’ve never had a meal here that didn’t push the boundaries of innovation. Daniel seamlessly blends local ingredients with global influences, creating dishes that are both surprising and deeply satisfying. My partner and I often joke that Daniel must be casting spells in the kitchen, because what arrives at our table feels like pure magic. I could write pages about the brilliance of what unfolds in this small restaurant, but I’d rather encourage you to experience it for yourself. Daniels am Markt is not a “if you’re in the area” kind of place—it’s a destination in its own right. A haven of culinary excellence and heartfelt hospitality that deserves to be the centerpiece of your journey through the region. Arrive with an appetite, a curious palate, and plenty of time. You’ll lose track of it anyway, as you’re transported to a space where dining becomes something truly...

This is quite a tasty restaurant that has amazing service and a nice, relaxing atmosphere. We had lunch on a Sunday afternoon and ordered their three and four course meals. You get to choose pre-mains depending on your course count, then choose between two types of mains and two types of desserts.

The first item we had was the ceviche with avacado and passionfruit, which was great. The combination of flavors was great with a good balance between sweet and savory.

Next was the Iced soup of Charanteis melon, which was a melon soup surrounding a shrimp tartar. This was interesting in a good way. The melon soup was good and went well with the shrimp tartar. Another good balance between sweet and savory.

Next was the onsen egg, which is a very runny egg in the middle of a fried ring of potato, topped with a spinach sauce and truffles. A fully savory dish, this was good. The truffles were decent but did not have a strong flavor.

The mains we had were the corn fed poulard and the veal. The poulard was served with both white and dark meat, and both types were tender and tasty. The croquette on top was good and filled with rice, but overall, a tad salty. The veal was amazing, very tender with a lot of flavor.

The desserts were also great. The cherry ragout was a good balance of sweet and sour with the chocolate. The goat cheese with raspberry was surprisingly delicious. The balance of salty and sweetness was amazing.

The service was amazing, and the before and after hour de vours were quite tasty and we enjoyed them all. We definitely recommend trying this place if you're looking for a great meal for...

I have been struggling to find the words to do our meal at Daniels am Markt justice ever since we visited on May 11th. What we experienced was nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. Our meal at Daniels was a journey, navigating through different favour combinations and ingredients, each dish more delicious than the last. We opted for the full 6 courses from Daniels Menu along with the wine pairings. We are glad we went for the full 6 courses as any less we would have felt like we would have missed out. Yes it was that good!

I'd like to say a special thank you to our server who explained each dish as she brought them out and was incredibly kind and attentive to myself and my wife all night. And Daniel, you're simply an artist! This was more than a meal, this was an unforgettable experience. Hands down one of the best eating experiences I've ever had. We can't wait...

Every dish at Daniel’s is a culinary MASTERPIECE. We’ve been here several times and each dish we’ve had has been absolute art. We always opt for a 4 or 5 course meal and have never been disappointed. He takes you on a journey with each course, even offering a palette cleanser before the main course, in the form of a sorbet. This time it was lychee sorbet, but we’ve also had black sesame there before. This restaurant deserves Michelin stars. The service, the food, and the atmosphere are all nothing short of incredible. If you’re a foodie, I HIGHLY recommend this place! The best restaurant I’ve ever been to
