Restaurant Hotel „Zur Krone“ — Restaurant in Löhnberg

Our group of four spent a night here during a bicycle trip. We reserved the tower suite and a double room, and found the rooms absolutely amazing, very spacious, as clean as if they had been recently renovated, with excellent bathrooms and furnishings - absolutely fabulous. ||But there's more! Upon our arrival, we appreciated the inviting terrasse and had a beer there. It's one of those cozy kind of garden terrasses, not too big, and the table they had set for us for dinner was nice and intimate, a bit as if we had a meal at a friends' house. The three course menu was excellent with fresh and certainly local ingredients. The strawberry desert tasted home-made, a very rare experience.||A hotel's qualities become apparent when something goes wrong. we stayed there because of a wedding and all the catering was done by the hotel. The food at the wedding was excellent. ||The pillow was too thin and the matras too hard. The rest of the room seemed to be updated. Great big bathroom although to reach the toiletpaper one has to be very good at yoga. But more than enough space to put your stuff.||The breakfast was ok, food ran out and wasn't replaced or it took for ever (how long does it take to make scrambled eggs?). I got the feeling the weren't prepared for the large group (we all slept in so we everubody arrived at the same time).||Staff at reception was very helpfull and friendly. Lady at breakfast not so friendly but that was probably because everybody was asking about the scrambled eggs.||Wifi was free but you had to give username and password everytime you wanted to logg on. I stay at this family operated hotel once a year when I visit Germany on business. Over the past five years the standard has been consistently high. The rooms are comfortable, clean and well maintained. They do vary significantly in size though, so check when booking! I have had everything from a compact single room with single bed to the extensive tower suite. The service is always friendly and efficient. The breakfast selection is very good and included in the very reasonable room tariff. The restaurant and bar are also of a high standard and the outdoor beer garden is great when the weather permits.
