Landgasthof Hotel "Zum Stern" — Restaurant in Markt Erlbach

Stayed here as it was all we could get close to our destination in Langenzenn but we were very lucky as it turned out a nice treat. The proprietor Jurgen Knorr really looked after us and helped us where we were lacking on the menu translation. The Hotel closes on Wednesday (completely) so I've had to give 4/5 for service because of this. We had to eat elsewhere which was not as good. The Hotel does give you a suited key so you can gain access to the main door and then to your room. There are vending machines that you can use for soft drinks, beer and coffee if you happen to get caught short. The rooms were furnished to a good standard, nothing over the top. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was superb. Heating was great, I feel the cold but I could get the temperature just the way I like it. The windows are fitted with roller shutters which absolutely kill any road noise and completely block out light. I sleep very lightly and rarely sleep past 5am. I actually overslept and woke at 7:30 (making me late). Best night sleep I've had in YEARS. The food was lovely recommend "Wildbret (Venison) mit Pilzensoß (Mushroom sauce) oder Wildschweinbraten (Roast Wild Boar) beide mit Kartoffelkroketten (Potato croquettes). Gorgeous food. These Bavarians also know a bit about beer which was nectar "Hefe Weisbier bitte". The wine was also excellent. I hope one day to return to this lovely part of Germany with my wife, very highly recommended. Vielen...

Nach dem plötzlichen Tod unserer Mutter, Oma und Uroma am 06.12. wo wir uns sonst als gesamte Familie am 1. Weihnachtsfeiertag versammelt haben, waren wir zunächst froh darüber überhaupt noch eine Location gefunden zu haben die am 1. Feiertag offen hatte. Aber leider war die Wahl nicht ganz glücklich. ||Sicherlich waren wir mit 17 Personen viele Gäste auf einmal, aber das Gasthaus hatte uns telefonisch angenommen und uns von 12.00 bis 14.00 Uhr gebucht.||Der erste Verdruss fing damit an, dass man meinen Neffen des Saales verwiesen hat, weil er einen Hund dabei hatte, der sich normalerweise unter dem Tisch klein gemacht hätte, weil der Hund ohnehin vor allem Angst hat. Angeblich war er zu groß! Mein Neffe ging schon mal stinksauer und kam auch nicht wieder.||Danach lief zwar alles relativ gut, Getränke waren (bis auf ein paar vergessene) relativ schnell da und die Vorspeise ebenfalls. Das Hauptessen kam dann so schnell darauf, dass an der Suppe noch gelöffelt wurde während der Hauptgang langsam kalt wurde. Dann kamen auch endlich die vergessenen Getränke. ||Die Speisen selbst waren durchwegs gut, aber nicht überragend und der Salat von der Salatbar Standard, bzw. der grüne Salat war zwar angemacht, aber ohne Geschmack.||Doch dann kam der Hammer: Um 13.25 wurden wir aufgefordert den Tisch zu verlassen und zu bezahlen, weil die nachfolgenden Gäste schon 15 Minuten warten würden, obwohl 2 Minuten vorher noch neue Getränke serviert wurden!!!!||Haaalllloooo!!!! Der Tisch war bis 14.00 Uhr gebucht!! ||Kann man dann nicht schon beim Ankommen kommunizieren und mitteilen, dass die nächsten Gäste schon um 13.30 auf den Tisch warten???? Dann wären auch keine neuen Getränke mehr bestellt worden. Ab diesem Zeitpunkt wurde plötzlich sogar ein Espresso abgeleht, der längst getrunken gewesen wäre bis alle Gäste bezahlt hatten.||Muss mann nicht verstehen, auch bei einem stressigen 1. Weihnachtsfeiertag! Unsere Familie arbeitete auch lange genug in dieser Branche und weiß durchaus, dass es auch anders geht ... nämlich mit rechtzeitiger Kommunikation!!! Daher nur 1 Stern und wir werden uns wahrscheinlich eher nicht wiedersehen. Sehr schade.||Frühere Besuche waren durchaus besser und über das Outfit der Bedienungen möchte ich mich angesichts der angespannten Personalknappheit in der Branche gar...
