Visited Indian Grill, The only Indian restaurant in Mittenwald with 4 of my friends. Here's my honest and unbiased review:
Pros: Great ambience Reasonable pricing A lot of authentic Indian veg and non veg dishes in the menu. Lots of tables are available. Very well decorated spacious restaurant. Looks clean and new.. Very close to the main station and Old town.
CONS: Takes the Indian customers for granted and the staffs are interested in providing tables for Non-indian guests and made us wait at the entrance and provided tables for people who came after us. A clear early sign of Unprofessional attitude. It took them 25 minutes to come to our table with the menu. When we placed our order they mentioned a wait time of 30 minutes for the dishes to arrive but took them 45-50minutes to bring the food.
Highly understaffed One of the chicken dishes was half cooked and the chef was super confident that it is well cooked (it was the most popular "Butter Chicken" that failed!) But later they re-heated and cooked the chicken well and got it back.
In the end as we had a unpleasant experience, they gave us "free dessert" which was infact the same mango lassi concentrate put on a dessert plate! I mean seriously! Who were they trying to...
Read morei usually dont write recession but this restaurant is just fantastic that i have to write something.. i went hiking that day and came down from the mountain back to the village Mittenwald pretty late, where almost every restaurant was closed and no where i could find a place to have my dinner. I was extremely hungry, but i came across this indian restaurant which was about to close and met the boss there. After knowing that i was hungry, he just welcomed me to the restaurant and let me order stuff to eat. As a result they had to delay their closing time for about half an hour. We chatted a little while i was having the meal.
After my meal i realised that i didnt bring enough money with me, but the boss was really sympathetic. He insisted that i dont have to pay for the meal. But i did pay my meal the next day. I couldn't ask more but im super grateful to have met such friendly and warm-hearted boss. one could already imagine how was it like when you gotta starve through the cold night especially after a long hike... i will remember this day and will come again when i visit Mittenwald in...
Read moreIndians take pride on their hospitality and courteous behaviour and hospitality is what we got. We had Bhindi Masala, Tawa Paneer and Lamb vindaloo and all of them were just so damn good. For reference: our faces after the food. The taste is very close to home and the owner just makes you feel so very welcome. Its a slice of India in this heavenly midst of Bavaria, Germany. P.S. we came back to the place after long hiking day in Karwendel to pick up the leftover lunch (that the owner so graciously let us leave with him until we were back) and were drenched in rain. He did not let us leave without tea, Papdi Chaat and Samosa and he did not let us pay a single penny 🥺 Honestly, we were so grateful and humbled. Even if he didnt feed us I would have rated this place a 5 star solely based on its food. Please do try it. You will not be...
