So I am currently sitting in the restaurant which was recommended to me by a local. I called to make reservations and they asked me to come after 11:00 because breakfast ended in one and half hour, from the start that was a red flag. I came to the location which is 22 minutes away and the place is very cozy. The breakfast buffet had a good spread. Now what killed it for me was the service. During the one and half hour I was there they came to my table twice. One to take the order the second to drop off the food. Never checked on us, never clear our table from the buffet plates, meanwhile they visited every table around me. Felt like I was not welcomed there. I had so much expectations for this place and it let me down.

Eine Speisekarte für das reguläre Mittagessen wurde mir nicht angeboten. Das war ziemlich enttäuschend. Es waren offensichtlich freie Tische vorhanden, und ich hatte gehofft, spontan etwas Warmes essen zu können. Vor allem nach einer langen Wanderung. Erst zu Hause habe ich auf der Website nachgesehen. Dort steht, dass sonntags von 12 bis 14 Uhr ein Mittagstisch angeboten wird. Es wird um Reservierung gebeten, aber es steht nirgends, dass diese verpflichtend ist. Empfehlung: Bitte ergänzen Sie auf der Website deutlich: „Reservierung erforderlich für Mittagstisch. Ohne Reservierung ist nur Selbstbedienung an der Kaffeebar mit Kuchen, Eis und herzhaften Stullen möglich.“ UPDATE Dies steht auf Ihrer Website: „So 12 bis 14 Uhr Sonntags verwöhnen wir unsere Gäste im „Landcafé“ der Reismühle. Unsere Speisekarte bietet eine Auswahl an herzhaften, saisonalen Gerichten, die mit marktfrischen Zutaten aus der Region zubereitet werden. Für uns ist Essen Leidenschaft. Echtes Handwerk und Qualität sind dabei für uns maßgebend. Traditionell zubereitete Gerichte, die uns nicht nur statt, sondern auch glücklich machen. Wir bitten um Reservierung. Wir wurden sehr nett empfangen und an unseren Platz begleitet. Leider saßen wir dann erstmal am Platz und wir haben schon eine Weile gewartet, bis auf unsere Nachfrage dann jemand kam und unsere Getränkebestellung entgegen genommen hat. Abgesehen davon war das Personal sehr nett und freundlich. Die Getränkeauswahl ist super, vorallem die verschiedenen frisch aufgebrühte Kaffeesorten in Kannen. Das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr schön angerichtet und auch eine sehr große Auswahl. Auch vegetarische Speisen. Und auch nicht das Übliche, sondern auch etwas ausgefallen. Z.B. Bratapfelring mit Ziegenkäse, Kürbisbruscetta oder Brokkolisalat… Auch Mittagsbuffet gab es auch eine sehr gute Auswahl, z.B. Zanderfilet und große Garnelen 🍤. Der Punsch der im Brunch mit dabei war, war auch sehr lecker. Allem in allem war/ ist der Preis für den Advents-/Neujahrsbrunch gerechtfertigt. Man hat ca 4 Stunden Zeit zum Essen, trinken…. Zwischendurch wird das Buffett umgebaut. Da hat der Service etwas nachgelassen. In der Umbauzeit ist leider niemand gekommen, der evtl. noch einmal eine Getränkebestellung aufgenommen. Erst kurz bevor der Umbau fertig war. Allerdings finde ich den Preis für eine 0,75 l Wasserflasche für 6,50€ sehr übertrieben. Die andere Getränkepreise finde ich in Ordnung. Kartenzahlung ist auch möglich, allerdings muss man hierfür in den Hofladen gehen. Ob dann alle auch dort hingehen zum bezahlen 🤷‍♀️ ?! Das Ambiente war sehr schön, die Deko, sogar im WC wurden auf kleine Dekodetails geachtet. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt, wir werden auf jedenfall wieder kommen.

Wir wurden sehr nett empfangen und an unseren Platz begleitet. Showed up on a beautiful Saturday afternoon with spouse and baby for a cake and coffee after a 40-minute drive. Terrace was 3/4 EMPTY but they turned us away saying they won’t take any new customers because there is a group inside. Seriously!? Unreal. It’s not like we were a big group of bikers showing up without a reservation or something; we were TWO PEOPLE who just wanted a piece of cake and a coffee and were planning to buy some beans from the roasterie. We actually thought they were joking at first. Really too bad because it looks like such a nice place. This is not how you do business.

SOME SUGGESTIONS TO MANAGEMENT: (1) instead of turning people away saying “we’re too busy,” simply tell people that service might be slower than usual and ask if they’re okay with that before sitting down. We would have happily sat there for a while and enjoyed the garden. (2) tell people “Sorry but we’re only able to serve 8 tables on the terrace today due to the group we have inside so if you’re willing to wait until someone leaves, we will be able to serve you then.” How hard would that be??? (3) update your website to say that you’re closed for a special event so that people don’t drive more than half an hour only to be refused service.

And no, in case you’re wondering, I’m not an American, and I have no connection to the air base.

Dogs are allowed outside and on the patio.

Great service English speaking. This is German style seating in the patio so expect to be seated with other people during heavy times. But that makes for great conversation.

The trails are nice. We completed a 2 mile loop that took us to the top of the hill for amazing views and a nice hike through the forest.

The coffee is amazing. You can also buy it at Edeka in Ramstein.

They are only open from 9-1800 Fri-Sunday. From 9-11 they offer buffets with reduced children prices. These are busy events. They also have special winter events that require reservations.

From 12-1400 they serve lunch and offer a daily lunch menu.

Great stop after a hike or walk...
