Alte Post — Restaurant in Obertrubach

The town of Obertrubach is located approx. halfway between Nuremberg and Bayreuth, with both cities just under an hours drive away.||The hotel is an old stagecoach inn located around a central forecourt with parking for any size vehicle, even buses (and additional parking around the corner). The thick walls and double-glazed windows ensure a quiet sleep and the rooms are cool, even during hot summer nights.||The doors of the rooms are too thin and noises from the corridor may disturb your sleep, but as there are only about 6 rooms per corridor this was no big deal.||The place accommodates coaches, but the one noisy coachload that was there during my stay was neatly kept apart from the ordinary patrons.||I had a room on the second floor and experienced no problems with the internet connection; there was a WiFi repeater on the corridor and the bandwidth (for Germany) was exceptionally good at 12 MB per second.||The hotel has an elevator, so access is easy even for less agile guests.||The bed was comfortable though a bit squeaky, the room itself very clean and of decent size.||The food in the restaurant was the average rustic German fare.||The breakfast buffet was excellent and very well looked after.||My double room with single occupancy cost 34 Euros, including breakfast, which makes this place great...

We wanted some change to find another place for a night on our trip down to Italy and we found this Gaesthouse in Obertrubach. Old fashioned hotel furniture ; years 1970! Need really a rehabilitation and refurbishement. Pity because is quite well located. Rooms a bit old and not exactly clean ( there were spiders in the bathroom!). Nice terrace however need some maintenance and cleaning. Good dinner even if it took a bit too long waiting time. Breakafst very good and varietty of food. Needs a...
