Ristorante Da Enzo — Restaurant in Otterbach-Otterberg

I love the experience of new restaurants. I heard about Da Enzo numerous times and have been wanting to try it. So, when an old friend reached out I was so excited to go. From the moment we walked in we knew what a special place this was. The staff was amazing and the food was outstanding. We were a table of eight and started with a delicious Pinot Grigio. Then the eight plates of different appetizers were served. Each one was delicious. We would have been happy with just those. But, the main courses were even better. From steak and lamb, fish plate, pasta and more we couldn’t believe the quality of food we were tasting. We finished off the evening with limoncello. This is a great place for a date night or evening with friends. The love that’s put into the food and service made it such a special night. As I was looking around the restaurant I could see the joy. Wir gehen seit etwa 1,5 Jahren einmal pro Monat mit Freunden zu Enzo. Das Restaurant gibt es schon bestimmt 20 Jahre unter gleicher Führung. Italienische Küche war nie so unser Ding – aber das hat sich vor einiger Zeit geändert. Vor zwei Jahren waren wir dann mal wieder bei Enzo – und ich muss sagen: Es hat uns aus den Socken gehauen! Sehr zuvorkommender, aufmerksamer Service. Und wirklich fantastisches Essen!

Es gibt eine feste Karte und zusätzlich eine Tafel mit aktuellen, saisonalen Gerichten. Darauf findet sich eine Variation an Vorspeisen, die wirklich exquisit ist. Auch diese wechseln immer wieder. Die wahre Granate unter den Vorspeisen ist ein kaltes Kartoffelpüree mit Safranfäden – ich habe schon überlegt, nur das zu bestellen!

Die Italiener nennen es „Kartoffelsalat“, aber der echte Pfälzer Grumbeerbauer weiß selbstverständlich, dass es eigentlich kalter Grumbeerstambes ist. Aber egal – jedenfalls schmeckt es famos.

Auch alle anderen Gerichte sind stets sehr lecker – egal ob selbstgemachte Pasta, Pizza oder die Fleisch- und Fischgerichte: alles sehr empfehlenswert!

Beim Italiener dürfen natürlich auch Wein, Dolci und Espresso nicht fehlen – und man gibt sich bei allem keine Blöße. Unsere Gruppe steht eher auf Weißweine. Es gibt z. B. einen sehr schönen Lugana (Flasche). Mein Bekannter mag den Primitivo sehr gerne (offen).

Die Dolci sind die italienischen Klassiker aus der „Grundausstattung“: Tiramisù, Panna Cotta, Crema Catalana oder Tortino al Cioccolato – alles hausgemacht und toll arrangiert. Und dann gibt es noch weitere Leckereien, die auf der oben genannten Tafel stehen oder beim Bestellen des Nachtischs preisgegeben werden.

Zuletzt der Espresso: stark und heiß, so wie er sein muss. Ich persönlich hasse Espresso in lauwarmen Tassen – aber den gibt es bei Enzo und Gianluca zum Glück nicht!

Es gibt noch weiteres Lobenswertes: Im Sommer kann man ganz wunderbar im Freien sitzen. Das Restaurant liegt zwar direkt an der Bahnstrecke, aber die Lautertalbahn ist abends kaum in Betrieb. Und Parkplätze gibt es ebenfalls ausreichend – entweder direkt am Restaurant oder, zur Not, abends bei Penny. Das sind dann gerade mal drei Minuten zu Fuß.

Ein Wermustropfen bleibt: der Sonntagabend ist leider geschlossen! Der Familie LaDelfa sei es natürlich gegönnt. Da gehen wir mit den unseren aber am liebsten aus! Schade, sonst wäre ich wohl nonh öfter bei Enzo...

This place does not even deserve one star. We waited over for almost 2 hours to get our food. At the 1.5 hour point we asked where our food was. Tables of diners who arrived after us had already been served. It took another 40 minutes for then to serve us. But of course there was no problem getting served drinks or alcohol. The staff was unsympathetic to our concerns and did not care whether we ever returned or not. The diners next to us arrived after us and received their food before we did. We had already been waiting for over 40 min before they had even arrived. The diners behind us asked to pay for their drinks and left before getting their meal. They also arrive after we did.
